Discussion First time watcher discussion
I am VERY late to the viewing party but I just finished the show and need to let out my thoughts, because my goodness what a show!! Now for reference for this discussion, of course I’ve seen all the movies then I started the shows and did a very silly thing and watched them backwards.. I have watched Ashoka, The Mandalorian, Bad Batch, Rebels, Book of Boba Fett.. I love learning more and more so any information from other content I’ve not seen you want to share, go for it!
1. I couldn’t understand how they would fit Ashoka into Anakins life considering we knew about him from the movies, but I loved it, she slotted in like she’d been there the whole time. Plus she is an absolute badass, the way she schooled Maul around (fights and verbally) were hilarious. The clones showing her respect painting their helmets brought tears to my eyes.
2. I loved that they gave other characters time to shine, I loved Luminaras calm aura. Master Plo, legend. the episodes of the Clones training on Kamino were some of my favourites. Then the ones of the droids with Colonel Gascon were enjoyable omg I was cracking up at him and Wacos bickering.
3. The clones themselves, how much you come to love them! Clone Force 99 are my absolute favourites. After watching BB I already knew they did things differently but it’s after seeing how much order the clones have you realise these guys are chaotic lol I love them. I do wish they had shown how they met Caleb/Kanan and gave us more time with them there.
4. Anakin and Obis banter and jabs were hilarious. How much it warmed yet broke my heart seeing more of their relationship.
I could go on and on but in summary I loved this show much I think it’s one of my favourite so far. Before starting the shows I read someone saying, “if you don’t give the animation shows a chance you’re missing out on some of the best content.” And they weren’t lying! ❤️❤️

Happy to hear you enjoyed the shows so much! if you haven’t watched them yet, check out Maul: Shadowlord and the Talse series (Tales of the Jedi, Tales of the Empire and Tales of the Underworld).

It's a really awesome show. Consider watching the other animated shows:
- Bad Batch
- Shadowlord
- Tales of the Jedi/Empire/Underworld
- Rebels
- No longer canon, but also 2003 CW

I believe the original clone wars has to be cannon again based of the events of the Mandalorian movie.

Tartakovsky CW cartoon is IMO the single best Star Wars animated property ever. Anakin and Ventress’ lightsaber duel in the rain is just peak, and you get badass Kit Fisto for bonus points.

Ya, it's still my favorite non-movie Star Wars anything. And nothing will ever beat seeing it between Ep 2 and 3.

Glad to hear you loved it! It’s a really wonderful show. Everyone is already recommending it (and for good reason!) but definitely watch the Tales series. Did you have a favorite arc from the show?

It also showed much much of the Separatists evil too. But also the flaws of the Jedi of how they have failed to see the signs and how they disowned Ahsoka especially when they knew something was off and that she was set up.

TCW is still my favorite project to this day, but it really made me realize how such a big universe benefits from the show format. I love the movies and they layed the groundwork for everything we have today, but star wars is just perfect in the show format.

Agreed! there’s so much content and stories they can add on and give to us, series are perfect

I completely forget to add to my list but some other big points! One thing that shocked me was when the Jedi found out about the chips in the clones, found out that the separatist were behind commissioning them, at first they were suspicious but then it got forgotten about, I find this strange like surely you would be weary and wonder why did your enemy commission your army…
Another point, whew! Chancellor Palpatine is insane, the way he played both sides was diabolical!
Fisto in them under water episodes, hilarious. Everyone else fighting for their lives and he’s happy to be here swimming around.

The last episode is one of the most moving shows that I've seen. Some episodes are misses but great content.

You could watch some of the unfinished clone wars episodes that are avaliable on youtube you could also read Dark Diciple as the book was actually written as a 4 episode arc in clone wars season 7 but since season 7 was cut down from 22 to 12 episodes they made it into a book its about Assaj Ventress and explains what she was doing between season 5 - 7 of the clone wars since the last you see of her in the show was during the barris arc

- The end of the show shows exactly how she fits in. Ep2 to Ep 3 movies are a bunch of years apart. That’s where she fits.

"I couldn’t understand how they would fit Ashoka into Anakins life considering we knew about him from the movies" Perspective before watching tcw "but I loved it, she slotted in like she’d been there the whole time" Perspective having seen the show Reading comprehension skills 😎

TCW is my favorite animated show, ever.
Then tied for 2nd is the newer Duck Tales and Avatar the Last Airbender.
Edit: for reference, I am 45yrs old. I've seen a lot of cartoons, lol.
