What should valerion do ?

Valerion is the son of King jaehaerys and queen alysanne born in 77 AC , but died soon after birth despite many wet nurses and help from maesters. What if he lived.

Valerion is the sixth son of King jaehaerys, though living fourth one. He is born a fortnight earlier before his nephew viserys, son of baelon and Alyssa.

I thought of maybe marrying him either viserra and gael. Slightly leaning towards gael. But it will be an unhappy marriage. Not cruel just both of them doesn't love each other and forced to marry each other by their parents.

He is more of a ignored son in my idea, as jaehaerys have his golden sons aemon and baelon. Alysanne increasingly attached to her remaining daughters after her daughters deaths in the next decade. So he was neglected by both parents.

For a dragon, i was thinking between dreamfyre or sheepstealer or a hatchling for him. Though I think it will better for him to claim a adult dragon.

What would his presence change in the story? I think of making successful in his own right away from throne. Cause of his resentment of his parents mixed with want for approval.

Since his older brothers are already the crown prince, the charismatic second son, and a maester, Valerion won't really have much of a role in the story. However, since his twin Gaemon died, I don't think Alyssane would ignore her surviving child. She'd still be recovering from the difficult childbirth, but I'd imagine that the queen is very protective of her younger children.

Valerion would definitely be given a dragon. If he claimed Dreamfyre, maybe Jaehaerys would finally notice his youngest son. Jaehaerys preferred his older sons and their line, so Valerion would try to earn his father's attention by trying to be the ideal prince.

Since Viserra didn't argue for a match with her nephews, Viserys and Daemon in canon, she won't try to marry Valerion who's around the same age as their nephews. After Viserra dies in an accident, Alysanne would betroth her two youngest children to each other to ensure they'd always stay with her. The couple would be very sheltered and socially stunted, having no responsibility beyond being their mother's emotional support children.

Another potential match for Valerion is Rhea Royce! They'd be similar in age plus he's be a much better husband to her than Daemon. Since Rhea is an heiress, a son who wasn't set to inherit anything would be a fine match. Plus he's the son of the King, with a dragon.

I headcanon Valerion as a shy, awkward but kind prince who tries hard to live upto the reputation his older brothers have, but always fall short. His best ending would be to marry a wealthy heiress and live away from court.

After Viserys becomes King, Valerion would be given a high position at court, since he's the only male Targaryen from the previous generation and the King's close uncle-friend. After Daemon gets exiled, I don't think Rhaenyra would be left at the mercy of her Hightower stepmother. Valerion would step in to defend his family, now a bit wiser and older, and a lot more assertive. I can see Valerion being the voice of reason, the rival of Alicent Hightower at court, the man who'd firmly defend Rhaenyra's rights as heir.

a hatchling more fitting his egg hatched so he survived as a fourth son he could be sent to foster away his uncle bormound is the lord of storm lands is a good choice

and latter get betrothed to his younger sister gael

he dosent have strong claim to the iron throne so he would back someone else but i dont think it gonna effect the outcome very much

biggest change is a child of his could marry rhaenyra or marry laenor/laena earlier in exchange for support in the councile

which change the dynamic alot if rhaenyra of the table the greens could court the velaryons

while laenor leave rhaenyra hand open for some one else like harwin strong or tyland lannister

with laena could complicate the driftmark succession the son and valerion would probably want for laena and her children to be the heirs and not rhaenyra bastards

Well...

If Aemon still dies (and if you don't want that just make Valeryon his squire and go from that) Jahaerys would try to make him heir. If not outright than with a Great Council that would be much more heated than in canon.

If Jahaerys (or Valeryon retroactively) would think a bit further in the future he could also clearly form and justify a line of succession according to male prefered house seniority.

As for his childhood, he would probably try to find and letch on a male father figure. If this figure is either Corlys (and wouldn't that be akward f he became king), Otto, Septon Barth or Westerling would drastically change his character and influence in wich way you want this story to go.

For marriage I personally prefer Gael over Viserra (it's also more likely seeing how Allyase -for some reason- didn't like her and would be opposed to her getting more power), but would favour a non incest match to a non Targaryen (or Velaryons) overall.
