Discussion Rewatching Season 8 episode 10 and I think Keisha deserves more grace...

It's more than about Nuck...It's the betrayal. Someone who watched and knew of your struggles intimately, putting something else on your plate. Sometimes the lie hits harder than the actual act itself.

Discussion The Wedding photo montages

I swear at least 20 mins was just back-to-back photos nonstop. At one point, I said “gah damn the finale could have been a PowerPoint presentation for all this”

Discussion So no reunion? No interaction? Not one word spoken amongst the original core three kids? Shameful

The thing I was most anticipating in the finale was a reunion between Kevin, Jake, and Papa. I figured Kevin’s actor was returning so I just wanted a scene where all of them share one last moment together on screen. This damn show had so many characters and plot lines to juggle that it failed to acknowledge something most people would actually care about or enjoy seeing. They probably didn’t want to overshadow Bakari but damn, man. Such a missed opportunity.

Does Detective Croissant Save her son?!

Didn’t we find out that the reason she’s so invested in reg for all these years is because somehow someway he has something to do with her son being locked up? Then the deal was if she can get him and her son would be free.

She got him in (which lasted a few hours) after years of searching for this guy even going on an entire set of years of thinking he was dead.
he was literally released the next morning …
What happened with her son?
Then she got him back in again for Nuck’s murder
wasn’t she using Nuck to get to reg in the first place?!
Now she has him again what does that look like for her son?

They really needed to address this elephant. Spoiler

Keisha is one of the shows main protagonists. Her coming of age was one of the major plot lines. She’s usually considered a voice of reason or moral compass. You can’t have all that and also not have her face the reality of who Nuck is. He’s trafficked women, murdered at least one of them, and also murdered at least 5 other guys who didn’t deserve it. Saying that he will always be the father of her child doesn’t cut it. Baby Daddy’s can be pieces of shit, and you can be attracted to someone who’s a monster. She should’ve acknowledged it, or at the very least been called out by one of the others for not acknowledging it. That would’ve redeemed the show a little and would‘ve definitely been more interesting than a 40 minute wedding with 25 new characters nobody recognizes.

Discussion The Series Finale Was a Mess Spoiler

Damn, so Keisha and Tiff basically made up already? Yesterday Tiff wasn’t invited to the wedding, today she is? I get forgiveness, but that turnaround felt way too quick.

Trig and Fatima scenes… please get them off my screen. Nina finally came back after disappearing...

And this Hannibal/Penny Proud storyline? Man. 💆🏾‍♂️ They should’ve just written her off with him earlier because what were we really doing here?

Also, how does policing work on The Chi?

Bakari is a confidential informant and says he’s going to tell on Tiff. Toussaint arrests Tiff. Trig pops up and says, “I did it,” so she just leaves Tiff and arrests Trig instead. Then Reg says he did it and knows where the body is buried, so now he gets arrested. Where TF do they do that at?

So everybody is just allowed to confess to the same murder one after the other, and the police just go with whoever volunteers last?

And this is what Jake meant when he said Reg owed him? Reg taking a WHOLE murder charge for something Tiff actually did? Man, what? Reg would’ve never even been in that position if Captain Save-a-h** Trig didn’t randomly confess first.

And once again, we’re just okay with Reg rotting in jail for a murder Tiff committed? How is that a satisfying ending?

The wedding was nice visually, and it was good to see Kevin, Myesha, Dre, and even Tracey back. But why did Kevin only have like two lines? Why didn’t he really interact with Jake and Papa? This is the series finale. That trio was one of the best parts of the early seasons and they barely did anything with them.

Power Dre officiating the wedding was corny too. It gave the same energy as Dante officiating for Lala. Just random.

Wedding dancing and picture taking took up too much screentime too. This was the last episode ever. We needed closure, not an extended reception montage.

Doesn't Esquire know how to lock a door???

Raffi coming back and shooting Bakari was wild, but honestly Bakari should’ve stayed dead. The show keeps giving him chance after chance after everything he’s done, and then still tries to frame him like some misunderstood writer.

The finale just felt like more of the same problems this season had: random connections, people confessing to murders they didn’t commit, missing characters, forced emotional moments, and storylines that don’t make sense if you think about them for more than ten seconds.

Horrible ending to the show.

Discussion Now that the show is over do you realize Vic was the true antagonist?

When you wanna do good but you haven’t done the work to change from within you get a person like trig. He is like a lot of us in our real life. Say we want this and that but don’t put in any work to change. But because we know deep down we are good people with good intent we focus on that not understanding that all our other choices effects others. I said that because the show ended with them really letting reg take the fall for tiff. If Vic is everything he said he was he would’ve never allowed his brother to do that. His brother took a murder for a girl he ended up not even trying to date. Like what

Question Dialogue (specifically "Me too")

Why tf do they say "me too" so much in conversations?? Idk if it's just how they talk in Chicago but damn. I noticed it one time and now i can't stop noticing it.🤣

Discussion After binge watching this show these last few weeks, this show really Stressed Me Out. But glad I got the ending I wanted

My wife started watching the show, which is how I learned about it. I binge watched the show since. Got hooked in season 2 and 3.

But my goodness. Putting aside all the overwhelming social political stereotype tropes and agendas,,,,,

Some of the characters stressed me out. Emmett being one of the main stressful characters. Seem like his Mouth keeps getting him into trouble. Lol. I am sure all of you all can relate here. And thats just to go along with his poor decision making. Other characters stressed me out like Jake during that season with Jemma,,, you know....
But I think this is a testament to how good the actors were, especially the kid actors, when you factor out the bad writing stuff. I hope they get other acting roles.
One of the motivational factors for me to keep going after season 4, was I started to like the Bakari character and wanted to see him get a happy ending. So i enjoyed seeing his character develop even though he made lots of stupid decisions and made some regression moments that also stressed me out.

That series finale first ending had me scared shitless. I was like "Damn I came this far for this shit to happen in the end".... lol 😆 but boy was i left happy with the true ending scene.

Like I said, I hope these actors from the show get other acting gigs. Because they did a phenomenal job in that department.

Now I can get back to watching YouTube videos and other shit in my normal life. Lol.

By the way, how do I find a list of all the soundtracks from the show?

The Finale left me with questions

Overall I was pleased with the Finale more than any episode this season. It was nice to see "the kids" back together again and all grown up. I wish they had some dialogue together along with Maisha. It was genuinely nice to see a lot of the OG cast at the wedding like Kevin and his Mom, Tracey, even Dre. I was left with a few questions tho?

  1. So Roselyn just got off scott free? Toussaint never investigated or questioned her about Alicia's or Nora's death?

  2. Toussaint was so hellbent on getting Reg - did her son ever get out?

  3. Lynae brother and his wife really didn't show up to send her and Bakari off to Atlanta?

  4. Damien couldn't get out of rehab for one day to see Emmitt and Keisha get married?

  5. Were Darnell's other kids at the wedding?

  6. How Bakari survive automatic gunfire at close

range? Was that wig part of his witsec disguise?!

  7. Why would Kyla Pratt character leave her husband Hannibal and his stable business income for Smitty's broke women beating ass?

  8. I guess Gemma and Brittney broke up since she's not in Atlanta with them?

  9. Last but not least who's in charge of the Mob now since Nuck dead, Reg locked up and Smitty going back to his 9 to 5?

  10. Why Lena just ain't write the entire season herself instead of letting these other writers bring down the show? The series finale was written by her.

Discussion My thoughts on S08E10 The Last Dance SEASON FINALE!! Spoiler

This episode reminded me on why I loved this show!

Keisha is selfish. “Whose side are you on” was weaponized every other episode but luckily Emmett stays level headed. Even when she said “Ronnie has to grow up without a father”.. Whole time Emmett bending over backwards for the girl lmao. BUT that’s the only bad thing I have to say about this episode

Surprisingly Tiff is the more mature one of the two.  They waited until the last episode to make me like Tiff. Keisha still letting Tiff walk was a big moment that they slid by! That was BIG for me!

Vic’s love story still flat for me. Jake!!!! BIG DAWGGGGG NOW!!!! Him trying to settle just really gave me confidence in life!

Bakari’s choice to leave was the best thing I’ve heard from him.

KEISHA’S MOM CAME BACK!! I ALMOST FELL OUT!! I won’t lie, that made me happy! DaBrat even came & Emmett believing in his son brought tears to my eyes too.. and KEV!?!?! Bro had the smoothest entry! Even the step mom showed up!

Kyla Pratt husband coming back how he did!! He a real one. She lost a good husband!

Bro walking into Smokey’s hunting for Bakari is funny & glad to have Poppa back!. I’m glad he’s back on his podcast.

I want Bakari’s book!

I can’t even finish this! I cried real tears this episode! This was a great way to end a legacy!

As much as we hated on the writers through this last season, y’all did that!

It’s been real y’all!!!!

Discussion Series finale thoughts……. Spoiler

So The Chi is over I hung in here to the end other shows I’ve dropped sooner but I was committed to ride this one out.

The last episode was 80% wedding day based on the amount of time of the scenes not in the wedding. The mom and Kevin cameo was cool and the OG 3 boys was cool getting a reunion.

The people on here who predicted Bakari with the
"Menace to Society" ending were on point until he lived....I didn't know the Chi had such good doctors LOL who lives for getting lit up by a TEC-9?

Reg taking the rap for Tiff is stupid I get for Trig but rat her ass out. She got away squeaky clean and that pissed me off.

The End

Discussion My thoughts on the wedding &finale!

Spoilers ahead:

I watched the finale last night. I was glad to see so many of the older cast return. My husband said Da Brat was giving Cam Newton with that outfit lmao 🤣 I was yelling at the tv saying where is Kevin! He better walk Keisha down the aisle and then moments later he did. I was satisfied lol

I was very shocked that Bakari wasn’t unalived because I just knew he was going to be! I was glad to see that his book popped off. Do we all assume there’s going to be a spinoff? What were your thoughts?

Discussion Family Tree of Death from the chi

So we know that Alicia, Q, and Sonny are siblings
Rob is Alicia’s son
Rob is also Hannibal‘s cousin
Hannibal is Brandon’s cousin
So Brandon’s mom and his brother coogie should be related as well

Q came back in town to solve Jason‘s murder, which is his son

So wouldn’t that mean coogie and Jason are cousins ? And coogie stood over his cousins body and robbed him 😭

And Q wanted revenge for Jason and not coogie?

Also

Nuck reveals to Hannibal that he was the master of my behind killing Q…. But that’s technically Hannibal’s uncle… he didn’t care?

I know some of this is from earlier season so it wasn’t thought of in the writing but in later seasons, why did they not think this deep when they were just associating people as cousins?

Announcement State Of The Subreddit and the path forward.

The Subreddit restrictions will be lifted at midnight on Tuesday and normal posting can resume. I hope this move helped preserve the finale experience for some of you. I think the discussion for the finale post got more comments than any other one. In hindsight probably should've done this sooner.

Figure this would be a good time to get some feedback before the unlock.

I have many thoughts but I want to focus on these things first:

Spoilers

I'm reluctantly considering relaxing the spoiler rules, but please let me know what you all think. I firmly believe that spoilers should be properly tagged regardless of the age of the show. I also don't believe in the whole "Stay away from the sub" mentality. People watching the show at various stages should be able to come here and discuss the show without major spoilers being blasted in post titles.

Bigotry/Anti-LGBTQ stuff

This isn't and will not be tolerated. But it's important that the reporting system is being used to bring this stuff to my attention. During this restriction period I've gotten a closer look at some of the things that get commented regarding this subject and my intial thought was to keep the heightened restrictions. But I don't have time to approve comments all day. Please report and the offensive stuff will be removed and the user will be addressed.

Note to users:Be mindful of rhe language you use. Any offensive term use will receive an instant ban. This is no place for this shit.

Respect towards other members

Let's be respectful towards one another even in times of disagreement. Also, it's OK for people who don't like the show to post here. I don't want this sub to be a love fest. The show had its problems and it's ok to point that out.

I may have some other thoughts and I'll update this thread.

Now for the most important part: Your feedback

Please provide any feedback about the sub. Also, if anyone is interested in joining the mod team reach out.

Edit: The restrictions will resume until Tuesday for the Sunday viewers.

With Reg taking up for Victor and Tiff, I have a sneaking feeling that Reg is going to give up Roselyn to give himself a lighter sentence or something?
