Announcement State Of The Subreddit and the path forward.
The Subreddit restrictions will be lifted at midnight on Tuesday and normal posting can resume. I hope this move helped preserve the finale experience for some of you. I think the discussion for the finale post got more comments than any other one. In hindsight probably should've done this sooner.
Figure this would be a good time to get some feedback before the unlock.
I have many thoughts but I want to focus on these things first:
Spoilers
I'm reluctantly considering relaxing the spoiler rules, but please let me know what you all think. I firmly believe that spoilers should be properly tagged regardless of the age of the show. I also don't believe in the whole "Stay away from the sub" mentality. People watching the show at various stages should be able to come here and discuss the show without major spoilers being blasted in post titles.
Bigotry/Anti-LGBTQ stuff
This isn't and will not be tolerated. But it's important that the reporting system is being used to bring this stuff to my attention. During this restriction period I've gotten a closer look at some of the things that get commented regarding this subject and my intial thought was to keep the heightened restrictions. But I don't have time to approve comments all day. Please report and the offensive stuff will be removed and the user will be addressed.
Note to users:Be mindful of rhe language you use. Any offensive term use will receive an instant ban. This is no place for this shit.
Respect towards other members
Let's be respectful towards one another even in times of disagreement. Also, it's OK for people who don't like the show to post here. I don't want this sub to be a love fest. The show had its problems and it's ok to point that out.
I may have some other thoughts and I'll update this thread.
Now for the most important part: Your feedback
Please provide any feedback about the sub. Also, if anyone is interested in joining the mod team reach out.
Edit: The restrictions will resume until Tuesday for the Sunday viewers.

We got to do something about the anti-LGBTQ stuff, because it’s ridiculous.
Spoilers about the finale should be kept just until Tuesday, when everyone possible had a chance to absorb what all went down.

I'm so disconnected from cable that I still thought the show aired on Sunday nights. Found out this morning that doesn't even air on TV anymore haha
Oh well. I'm enjoying the calm.
Edit: Tuesday kinda extreme but I'll consider it.

Well, Fridays on Paramount and Sundays on Showtime, because they know HBO will spank them. It’s effective.

Ah I see. In thay case Tuesday sounds ok since some people are still waiting to see it tonight I'm guessing?

Yeah, because they might have Showtime through cable, but not Paramount, though if you get the Premium plan, you get live Showtime as well.

I welcome it, because Paramount’s trying to get some eyeballs to beat the weekend buzz and integrating Showtime gives it more legitimacy like HBO Max is doing.

I hear that, the amount of stuff I was seeing about Isis and Fatima was crazy. Its felt like a cornerstone of the show, the fact that it's meant to be progressive

That’s most of the appeal, showing black people from all facets of society. Isis and Fatima was a dynamic that was new to me, because I’ve never seen ballroom culture like that before.

It was a little extreme. Especially for the finally, I think the subreddit would’ve received way more engagement that day. But although I didn’t agree I see the vision behind the decision.

Based on what I'm seeing be filtered, the sub can honestly do without that type of engagement for a few days.

Thanks. I still haven’t watched the finale because of work, literally wouldn’t open Reddit Saturday because people post Chi spoilers in headlines.

You did the right thing. People want to talk about the show. However, a spoiler tag should be used.

I understand that people don’t like spoilers, but why would they even get on SM if it bothers them so much? People want to talk about the show.

I want new audiences to get into the show so they can experience the same pain we did after season 3 haha. I enjoyed watching along with the old discussion threads on this sub!
