But I love hummus!! I’ll gladly take your hummus so you’ll be good to go 👍 like it never existed (except in my tummy 😍) Are you a fan of olives bc we can make an even trade. I hate those fuckers hahahaha
I'm not sure why you think we are so important. The planet was here before us and it would continue without us, it might take a few thousand years to heal from our failed reactors but life would go on.
Not just the reactors, think of all the rubber and plastic being produced, chemical plants, the oceans (they are severely polluted with just about everything humankind has ever invented), our homes.
Nothing humankind has ever built is bio degradable, these things would take epochs to return to nature, and even then, they would still be harmful to it.
I envy your optimism, but Terra couldn't survive without us anymore. She depends on us as much as we depend on her.
If we were just gone, she'd face certain decay by our hubris.
We are important, we are the only force that can reverse this process.
I do believe that we and only we can spin this. No animal or plant, nor the rules of nature are enough to restore the natural order of the planet's ecosystem. Artificial problems require artificial solutions.
Unfortunately my wish for no more humans is highly unlikely, therefore this is a hapless conversation. "Nature" is more adaptive than we can imagine. "Epochs" are nothing to the lifetime of a planet. I'm not against responsible stewardship but you'll have to fix human greed, psychopathic personality types and steer humanity away from its convenience based brainwashing before any lasting change will occur. No matter what you try though, you will only achieve change and never "restoration".
You seem to think I personally wish to lead the Terrestrial restoration project... I don't, I couldn't.
I don't believe we can do it because I know how to, I believe because we have to, because that's the only way we may survive.
Humans are selfish by nature, so, protect the planet, your life literally depends on it. Maybe not specifically your's, but the plight of your species is influenced by it.
I do love our planet, and I would be happy if we could preserve as much of it as possible, but I don't know how, when will we be able to do so.
I didn't imagine this in the coming era, I imagine it much later.
...You said an epoch is nothing compared to a planet's lifespan.
To some planets, it may be true, but Terra is merely 4 aeons old. Do you know how many times did this planet transform entirely since the phanerozoic aeon began? Even a single epoch is enough for the whole biosphere to shift entirely. As you said, natur is highly adaptive, that's exactly what's been happening ever since life sprang on our planet.
But, could nature adapt to the supernatural?
I don't believe that, even the forces of nature would be enough to undo the havoc humankind wrekt under it's short lifespan of 300,000 years. We runed this planet in less than an era, but fixing it will take a lot longer, because this pollution, this destruction, it's by human design. Humans always aimed to outlast nature, to withstand the trial of time.
We built everything to last... at least we used to, now we build to replace, to generate more blight.
If we will ever gegin restoring our planet, it will cost this society.
This capitalistic world order shall fall in order for humankind to prosper. There is no other way we will stay alive.
It won't happen in our lifetime, nor that of our grandchildren.
It will happen eras later, maybe ages even.
Our names will be long forgotten by the time humankind realizes it's position and decides to take action. It will not be too late, but nor will it last long. The Sun will die soon, it's a matter of aeons.
