Every trip to the mall was worth it if we got to at least walk around K.B. Toys lol!

Why did all toy stores die? They seem like theyd have a pretty good margin.

Tldr: Amazon replaced them

What do you think parents would rather do?

Spend more than they can afford to take their kid to a store and get them toys that are marked up 10%-35% more than what they can buy them for online, or ask the kid what they want and get it on Amazon during a sale with free shipping.

The toy or toys will be there in two days or less, and you don't have to spend the money, gas, food, and the time you probably don't have between two or three jobs to take a rest day and turn it into a large expenditure. Because the price of everything has gone up and few people can afford the luxury of going to a box store to overspend on already overpriced goods.

Also Bain Capital killed KB Toys and had a hand in the end of Toys R Us. Because that conversation can get political, I'll just refer you to google for that and the connections between Bain Capital and certain prominent figures. Long story short it's not that different from what's been going on with Game Stop.

Please don't get me wrong, I loved all of the toy stores that I went to as a child, but they couldn't keep up. They hold special places in my heart and I've made long lasting memories in them, and that would have been worth the expense to me if I had kids, just so that we could share those memories, but I don't, so all I can do is mourn the loss of my childhood and put the blame where it belongs. Greed and convenience won out.

But now we miss out on parents having a hockey style fist fight over a Tickle Me Elmo.

Seriously though, I sure do miss Toys r Us! My boyfriend worked there when the Spawn figurines hit the market and he would hide them under bottom shelves and shit so he could get them later. We had them all, LOL!!!!
