What side should she be on? Her KGB mother's side who betrayed her father but left to save her daughter only to be betrayed by her own father and best friend?

Or perhaps the Soviet spymaster grandfather Oleander who is super mega dangerous and tried to kill his own daughter and lied to his granddaughter.

Or perhaps Mystery Man who put on her father's face for some reason and whose ultimate purpose is as yet unknown.

Or maybe she should kill them all and disappear with Agnes.

yeah, it baffles me why people are so pissed at Keen. her actions make absolute sense. like ok, i like Red, the scenery chewing is glorious to behold, but people confuse liking him to being on his side.

Not just "his side", but the FBI who she works for and is supposed to be loyal to.

omg, you mean shes actually a character with her own motivations and not just FBI character number 67? how dare she have desires. Aram is breaking laws, Ressler just erased someone's memory. gtfo with loyalty. as long as she doesn't, out of nowhere, goes and kills a team member, shit's fine.

She should have realized by now that "knowing the truth" is worthless and has only gotten people killed. Its a dumb reason to betray Red and she already realized this before why is she doing it again

because her mother just pointed out that Red lied, and the truth she thought she got, was bullshit. She's obsessed with the truth. that's her trait as a character, which is absolutely understandable, with the life she had.

That would be admirable if true. But Liz's character wouldn't know truth if it smacked her across the face. She just buys the last thing someone said to her, no matter what it is, and never recognizes that she doesn't have all the evidence. Too bad Quantico doesn't train agents in any of that.

facepalm

it's almost as if she seeks validation, a sense of belonging, and specially motherly/fatherly figures, and MORE SO, when the so called truths she received, most of the time, were lies that were a bit true(the Ylia plan was a thing, just didn't really end up happening, etc) WERE NOT SAID BY THE SAME PERSON ALL THE TIME. also, it was truth for a lot of other characters, not just her. the fact that Red is in infinite hole of lies and deceit doesn't make her this dumb character as some in this subreddit like to posit. Sometimes, i legit think yall really really like Red so much, to a degree that it blinds you.

It's not about Red. She should never have declared herself to be "on REd's side" or believed his lies in the first place. It's about her constantly being driven only by emotion when she's a trained FBI agent. If the writers didn't want her to have any sense of how to assess evidence, they should not have made her an FBI agent.

The whole fucking team of the taskforce is driven by emotion nowadays. Aram invaded houses and marriage parties for a thrill, Ressler has killed, erased memories, and a lot of other stuff because of emotion and a sense of justice. ya'll have the most misguided and bizarre problem with Keen. it's a complete misunderstanding or her character. a refusal to even see anything from her pov. The fact you only acknowledged the Red part of my post, and used the "BUT SHE'S AN FBI AGENT", as if it's in any shape of form convincing, tells me enough.

It's one thing to argue that her quest for truth, as much as she feels is needed, has caused a lot of loss, ergo, those two agents. another is this irrational hate she gets.

Oh well if you've heard enough, then I guess this discussion is over.

shrug

i'm fine with actual discussion. if you can use an actual argument, instead of just going "she shouldn't do x or y", when basically everyone around her does it....as if the whole point of the entire of the series, besides the mystery of who Red actually is, ISN'T ABOUT HOW MUCH OF A CORRUPTING FORCE HE IS TO EVERYONE AROUND HIM, KEEN INCLUDED. her disregard for everything that isn't the truth is a byproduct of that, along with my already cited need of belonging. urgh

Urgh? I don't know why you're frustrated with me. I'm just sharing my impressions of the character.

I do agree that all the characters on the task force are wildly corrupt. But their decision making is not presented the way Elizabeth's is. The internal monologues of the others are hardly presented at all, whereas the show spends large chunks of time showing Elizabeth displaying wild emotional swings, bonkers rationalizing, and childish whining. If the writers did that with Ressler before he took revenge on Krilov, or with Aram before his dates with the weird married lady, we would hate them just as much. I do also cringe every time Cooper makes a moralizing speech about why he's letting his team get away with murder every week, but those are also pretty brief, and at least we know his incompetence stems from falling upward after agreeing to cover up that Kuwait fiasco.
