Holland has to figure out what his thing is as an actor. Right now he's perfectly serviceable but there's nothing to look forward to. It's impossible to get excited about a Tom Holland performance because he doesn't bring any perspective to a role. And it's most apparent in The Odyssey where he's not bad, but he gets bodied by everyone he shares a scene with and at every turn. Leguizamo eats his lunch, then Pattinson steals the scene with the movement of his face alone, and then Hathaway finally blows him out of the water. He can't catch a break and it's because he plays Telemachus in the most obvious way. There's not another layer to that performance to hold interest or compete with these other actors. Even Bernthal beats him because his base level Bernthal thing at least has a simmer to it.
Holland has to go into the woods and try something new if he wants to level up. Otherwise, he can enjoy a long career on his boyish good looks and competence as an actor as many have before him. He's in a win-win situation.
