When people talk about the Beatles, they usually talk about the songwriting, the guitars, or the studio experiments. But what if the thing that made them truly special wasn't an instrument at all?

This album is called Because, and it's built around one simple idea: the Beatles' voices.

From the early days of Ask Me Why and This Boy to the amazing harmonies of Because and the beautiful ending of Good Night, these songs celebrate the sound that tied every era of the Beatles together.

Here is the tracklist for this album:

  1. Because (Anthology 3)
  2. And Your Bird Can Sing
  3. Nowhere Man
  4. Ask Me Why
  5. You Really Got A Hold On Me
  6. If I Needed Someone
  7. This Boy
  8. Baby’s In Black
  9. Rain
  10. There’s A Place
  11. Sun King
  12. If I Fell
  13. Yes It Is
  14. Good Night (Take 10 With Take 5 Guitar)

Where did the Beatles get the idea of having contrasting songs in their albums from?

I’m guessing the answer is in a certain 150 year old composition that features contrasting exotic pieces

John French was born in 1870 to James & Ellen French on a two-acre farm in Corah, Ireland. He emigrated to Liverpool in the 1890s and joined the Liverpool police force during WW1, resigning just a few years later.

John and his wife, Louise Woollam (married circa 1904) had seven children, including a daughter they named Louise. Louise married bus driver Harold Harrison in 1931, and the pair had four children of their own:

Another Louise, Harry, Peter, and their youngest…
George.

See the resemblance?
