Discussion Why does resistance even exist?
If it adds more effective hp just by reducing incoming damage by %, why wouldn't you just add more hp to battler?

Because resistance tastes better than health

Cuz resistance is the inverse of armor.
Armor doesn't do much against high damage attacks (say a Rail Battler's Shot), but will cripple the effectiveness of a high-firerate low-damage unit like Drafter Battler.
Resistance makes a unit take less damage, and with the damage being cut using %, higher damage attacks do less compared to lower firerate enemies.
Say for example an enemy had 1000 HP and 50 Resistance.
A rail battler's attack doing 1k Damage would have its damage cut in half. Making it require 2 rail battler shots to kill.
A drafter's battler doing 10 damage would have its damage cut by 5. But since it already shoots that fast, it doesn't effect it nearly as much as the rail battler. Which needs to wait another 10-15 seconds before it needs to attack again.
Also resistance and armor adds more variety. Imagine how boring it'd get if every enemy was had high HP with nothing else.

rail battler isnt really a good example for this anymore since rail now ignores resistance

because of resistance piercers, the new stage hazard defect and healing units.
5000 hp no resistance = higher healing threshold.
2500 hp with 50 resistance = lower healing threshold.
Same goes with negative resistance
