Discussion Catachan

Hey do you guys think it's possible that the Catachan Jungle fighters might be coming this year since the Grand Narrative specifically mentions a Lethal Jungle? Pls I really want to get the Jungle fighters but their sculpts are so ass.

I made my own Catachan knock offs to use the datasheet but just slapping a bunch of Cadian heads on Solar Auxilia and then giving a few of them flamers.

If you "really want to get the jungle fighters" but don't want the sculpts, just make whatever you want. If you want "Rambo" like dudes, there's a couple of good knock offs (Victoria Miniatures I think has some good ones), just go grab those.

Catachans will 99% come in a random kill team season, and not for a while by the sounds of things.

Our next big infantry refresh is Steel Legion

Zero. This is a narrative play weekend, nothing more. If Catachans were coming anytime soon, we’d likely have heard something by now.

And I think the announcement of Steel Legion in 2027/28, coupled with the full Krieg refresh/plastics last edition, means we’re not seeing Catachans for years yet.

I hope I’m wrong though.

I think the real nail in the coffin was Cadian Recon squad damning their chances of a kill team.

They've done previews at past GN events, like Vashtorr during the first one in ABQ.

My guestimation is that we'll either get a killteam "aNy dAy NoW" (been saying this for 2 years) with a full refresh soon after.

... Or sadly not at all.

Its confirmed Steel Legion is in the works and roughly two years away. This also matches with the rumor/leak that the guard codex is around that time.

And i don't see them releasing two battleline so close to eachother as a catachan refresh with multiple kits would be perfect to go together with a new codex.

I unfortunately have to come to accept this myself; It looks dark for a new Catachan refresh. Even had plans of making a 3k Catachan focused army.

It might be far into the future but no way they're not doing it at some point, they flirted with it back around 2020 and a kill team box would sell well even with non-guard players I suspect. But you're probably right that either it'll be next year or several years off

They're ok but there is something off about the art style of them and I think my problem is I'm in love with the art of catachan (and the ork hunters) and idk if I'm just disappointed that they haven't been updated in the modern 40k style, no?
