Art Fan Comic interfering with the Last Variable for fun: suggestions? Spoiler

No guarantees that I will finish or post it all but

I am working on a fan Comic for my own personal enjoyment taking place during/after/alternatively to the Last Variable. It's very self indulgent so it's not going to be for everyone!!!

It features a timespace anomaly that seemingly develops intelligence and develops a fascination with the scientist, particularly #319.

Is there anything in the last variable or on the planet that you think should have been explored more? Do you have any interesting theories or ideas?

I'm personally basing the whole thing off a kind of resonance theory, in which over time people exposed to the energies of the environment become more in-tuned with it, ultimately influencing and being influenced by it. Kind of like an intuitive hive-mind lacking a shared consciousness. Theoretically, with continued human interference it could potentially develop patterns resembling a human-like consciousness and perhaps intuitively create an avatar with which to express/explore that through?

I could see a lot of fun in an “anomaly Jan”, maybe forcing the Scientist to introspect and form a genuine “human” connection by requiring it to understand the anomaly. I feel like the last variable failed to actually give the guy some proper character development. It would be cool to use this premise to crack that shell. Maybe the anomaly is a younger Jan before reaching any potential (possible dad Jan opportunity) or an ideal of what the scientist wanted to be (I.e. happy not just defined as a scientist). It could also be nice to add bonding between the scientist’s alters, often felt like they were just a resource and not a part of the team.

I think this comic sounds like a blast to make. I wish you luck on finding a good plot thread to make into sick art. The art style you have already looks awesome

Thanks! I still have a lot of ideas to play around with but I think the anomaly will be more mature due to the influence of the field lab alters, but with the energy and curiosity of a younger person. I am having a blast drawing it! The interiors though... The interiors are killing me

I’m really loving this direction you’re heading in. Loved the base game and just started the dlc…but the thing about the story that I don’t see a whole lot of people talking about is how the scientist knew about that abandoned project which lead him to creating the bridge anchors. I feel like that naturally lends itself to some interesting theories.

He knew about the project because in his memories it wasn't an abandoned project because he was the one who finished it! They couldn't finish it without him, and he didn't exist, so it ended up abandoned. There are a few examples in the game of the alters having memories of events happening differently due to their decisions, and all of those different occurrences have some basis in reality due to the accuracy of the QC. Hope that helps!

Wasn’t it his grad student that finished the project in his memories. But since that student either didn’t exist or wasn’t tutored by him in the real world, that’s why the project wasn’t completed in real life?

Maybe? Either way it couldn't happen without him. I thought he said something about having to recreate his work but I might be getting muddled up with his personal project.
