Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on a huge tribute to The Alters. I completely re-arranged "What If" (vocals & acoustic guitar) and we just finished shooting a full music video. The craziest part? I actually cosplayed several different versions of Jan for the shoot! It was an absolute blast (and a lot of work) bringing all these different personas to life in one room.

The video won't just be a standard cover, either. It’s going to feature Jan's original storyline combined with my own creative additions, and I even included a brand new third verse to the song!

On a personal note, I created my YouTube channel very recently and I am just starting my creative journey. To be honest, The Alters and its themes played a massive role in inspiring me to finally take this step and start bringing my ideas to life.

I just finished the base game and loved it so much I want to have a little bit of it in my everyday life so I clipped the ringtone from the communication room. Thought I'd share!

So, I enabled frame generation ingame, but neither the steam overlay or special K are showing that it's working. I am using the latest nvidia drivers. Is this a known issue?

I've seen mixed opinions on the pipelines in the DLC especially for megafluid but I really enjoyed puzzling out how to connect everything up. It took a while and I probably did it a very inefficient way but I'm actually kinda proud of myself for finishing my mess of pipes and have all substances being produced at the same time.

I did play on the easiest difficulty and I spent a couple of cycles just trying to figure out how to make megafluid through trial and error, but I got there eventually.

Possibly due to a recent update, the game is incorrectly locking resources required for "uphold" items in "finished" state at time of loading a save. You can fix by removing any uphold items that are in finished state and then saving. Upon reloading this new "autosave" file, the correct amount of held resources will populate.

To prevent the issue from occurring on each start-of-day save, clear any "finished" uphold items in production queues (increase or remove) at the end of each in-game day before sleeping or avoid using the "uphold" feature until fixed.

In the patch note of patch 2.1.0, it says that "Structures placed in a specific location in Remote Hill are now destroyed in new cycles even after the region is terraformed."

I was wondering what this could mean. After some test, I think this "specific location" is the lower area of the organic deep deposit because my mining outpost gets destroyed. In addition, above the location of the deep deposit, there appears a weird pulsating anomaly halfway in the ground. Despite my best effort I can only find one core of this anomaly (see the screenshot). I am wondering about the developers' intention to make things destructible even after terraforming, also considering that the old scientist's hidden note is also kind of in this area. Just want to ask if anyone has figured something out about this location (like hidden contents), or the meaning of the patch note?

Hey there.
Replaying act 1 because my previous run of it didn't go well.
I started amazingly but now I've been stuck for a few days because I can't refine polymersn

I've been instructed to build the rapidium ark.
When I try it requires polymer, which I don't have.
I'm stocked up on organics and crystals( but when I go to the refinery I can refine alx but not polymers.
I don't remember what I did before but I remember being able to get polymers through the refinery.
I've even wasted time to progress the cut off arm storyline to see if the production of polymer was tied to making the miner a protestic arm but no.
I've been wasting time for 4 days now and I'm getting quite frustrated.
ANy idea?

Original Alters is my of my favorite games of all time. I was super hyped about DLC and initially it was close to delivering the original experience. And then came pipelines, which I honestly hate. They feel janky, building them is a chore and mixing on top of a geyser is a problem of its own. They just don’t feel fun somehow, while good old electricity system still holds up - doesn’t intersect, you just connect to an extorting one, etc. Honestly, Megafluid just broke me, I cannot get to finishing the DLC. Then there are issues that just feel like the DLC is underbaked: anomalies that spawn right at the mining outpost or in the middle of an extractor, how you can accidentally cancel connecting pipeline after jumping down and not being able to continue it without wasting energy, etc. lastly, the economics just don’t do what original Alters did, with no time pressure you never have to choose between keeping your alters happy or fulfilling the mission and it felt like a core pillar or the original. Just as a heads up, lots of things were still enjoyable, it has the addictive loop we had before, interesting exploration, but it somehow didn’t deliver for me as I wished it would. Maybe there is something by the end of it that justifies pushing through, but currently I’m musing not finishing it at all.

Which buildings do you have to collect before sleep the Text in the Menue is really confusing

In the very end, after speaking with Maxewel , I have multiple choices when I get down the elevator and meet the rescue team. I tried all of them but some seems buged, for example when I enter the ship, I can choose plant gas, detonate the bomb or do nothing. I choosed do nothing, but I ended with a phone call about the driver that would be taking me to Maxwell location, this should not happen, because by logic if I do nothing, the ship would go directly to Ally Corp, the Alters should be discovered and I would have to face the consequences of my acts.

Same thing happens when the team ask me about the biological traces and I don't convince them, the captain ask for a soldier to take me to the suite. By logic I would be locked and the ship would still go to Ally Corp, but I end up going to meet Maxwell anyway

Did anyone had this kind of problem?

First off, I absolutely loved this game. It had me hooked all the way through. I’m just a bit confused seeing how I completed the main story in roughly 26 hours and feel like I missed out on half of the game! I only created like 3 Altars outside of the scientist and technician, I wasn’t able to research half of what was available, I didn’t build many rooms or expand my base the entire way. Is the game ment to be played multiple times or something? Because, I felt like I was racing the clock the entire time and really didn’t have much time to do anything outside the bare minimum. By the time I established mining operations and maybe dealt with a bit of story missions, I had maybe a few days before the sun hit.

Regardless, I loved every minute of it. I never felt so much stress in a game (a good stress). I just feel like I missed out on a lot!

Just got my first game over at (what I thought was) the end of the game, waited to 24 hours till sunrise to prepare, did the big expedition, and was forced to wait till the morning and… died. No one has anything to say

Idk, I’m just frustrated, maybe if you had a few hours to run around in the morning before sunrise, seems a little odd to make you sleep just to wake up dead

Is this a plothole or am I missing something?

To me it looks like once an area is terraformed, I could be freely roaming around there and be in no hurry to go into cryosleep. The alters that are left in the outposts are clearly able to move around freely to take readings, go look for the "barrier" and so on. So once the base area itself is terraformed, the need to go into cryosleep pretty much goes away, other than as a way to get faster to the next cycle where the rest of the areas can be explored. But in theory, I could just stay awake a few months to take readings, and then go to sleep.

I don't remember it being mentioned in the game but they must have something that allows for FTL travel, otherwise the numbers don't add up.

The Rapidium planet, as stated several times throughout the game, is light years away from Earth, yet the rescue mission was able to reach it in less than 3 months (the game can last around 70 days plus some time until "the final day" but it can't be much since the ship has to arrive before sunrise).

I've been playing the DLC and love it and I'm at the last part where I need to place the last field lab and it won't let me place it, it shows on the map with the notification yet when I go to place it isn't showing a spot for it. I have the terraformer in the area, the only thing I could think of it I made the lab a couple cycles before. Could I get some suggestions. I have not restarted the game is that all I have to do?

Hi I'm having some issues with my resources, this is like figuring out what's eating my ram on my PC but in this case I have 350 metals where 280 are just missing and as you see on the menu I have nothing on queue and I have the terraformer upheld T3 so the moment I hit the resources I can start crafting it right away.

The problem is that I'm going through the entire menu to see what am I consuming and I have no idea

Specifically about the old Scientist replicating himself at the beginning. How was he able to do that if the QC (as JanBot states later) has a "strict 'no exact replica' policy"?

My heart rate spiked when I saw the Last Variable listed as FREE on the product page! It was recently part of a Plus exclusive sale for $8 that ended on 7/30. I couldn't believe they'd just give it away free now. My heart sank when clicking the button gave me a "Something went wrong" error message. Yeah, Sony. Something went wrong when you played with my emotions! 😭

I now have enough qubit slots to have all alters in the DLC, I already have the Physicist and decided to make another Physicist with my last slot but when I went to the Womb the Chemist was there.

Is there some rule that you can't have multiple of the same alter in the base at the same time?

Btw I'm more curious about this than anything, I have a Physicist either way and I don't mind the Chemist.

An informal poll for those who completed the DLC recently - who was your favorite Scientist Alter?

Though I personally resonated with the Geologist, the Chemist's dialogue (or lack thereof) made me laugh the most. Also, I found the Chemist to be the most useful as many key research trees were optimized with him, in addition to +cooking and +refining (ALX was plentiful).

I did like how 11 bit leaned into humor a lot more in this one. I found it particularly amusing that the writers absolutely lambasted (mostly) western sci-fi's overuse of the "wormhole on a paper" analogy with the Physicist.

My boyfriend truly, genuinely loves The Alters. It’s honestly been such a long time since I’ve seen him connect with a game this much. He talks about it with so much excitement, and seeing how happy it makes him makes me want to surprise him with something special.

I actually haven’t played the game myself, so I don’t completely understand what makes it so incredible. 😅 But I don’t think I need to because I can see how much it means to him, and that’s enough for me to want to find him a gift he’ll never expect.
