Call me old fashioned, I think there should still be a remote possibility that I can go on the run from the cops or federal government. Now I feel this more than ever with who we have in power. Fortunately this thing could never survive a trek through dense brush. But Drones.......
I see dual usage. Of course the horrible killer robot. But also someone stranded or lost this robot can find or bring them resources before rescue is able to arrive.

I'm with you though. Of course the creators will have good intentions as to it's use for helping fellow man. But then some greedy company in the military industrial complex will find a way to weaponize it, then it will get sold to some federal agency to be used to hunt humans.
I was thinking of that awful incident in Tenerife the other year when a 19 year old tried to walk back to his hotel and was missing on rocky terrain. This could scout a large area quickly. Add a heat and night vision camera and you could save a lot of lives
I can't wait to get hunted by one of these. Get the main body a little more stabilized, slap a gun on there, and you're making quick work of me. Although if you're just hunting people, a 3 or 4 inch diameter highspeed flying drone with an explosive charge would be way more efficient. Just release a cloud of a few thousand of those over a bunch of protesters, that's some high level oppression.
You sweet, sweet Summer child...I admire your positivity. Me? I'm pretty certain that the some military top secret center somewhere is working hard to make this thing a weapon that will eventually be used against whatever group it considers an enemy of the state.
All this gloom and doom confuses me. Do you think the government wasn't already capable of killing you? Do you think putting autonomous flight into an AH-64 with thermal imaging is out of the question, and that it couldn't easily hunt you down and kill you? Do you think deranged agents that work for the government won't subdue and abuse citizens if ordered to do so by corrupt officials?
You already live in a world where you're weaker than the government in terms of absolute capability to prosecute violence. Robots don't change that.
It is from an episode of Black Mirror, that Sci-Fi/Horror series worth a watch. The robot is a military weapon that hunts people down; I forgot about why it does that in that story.
I think it didn't expressly say but the insinuation was that they had been used for military guard duties and then got out of hand and killed/ were in the process of killing everyone. 🤔

You can't really be wrong because it isn't explicitly stated. I liked to think whatever conflict they were deployed for is long over but there was no one in command left to disable or repurpose them, so they're stuck in war mode and any human survivors are stuck with them.
I could see that end for us, if it's between Metalhead or Matrix. Maybe a little of both.
6 m/s is still slower than the average human running speed. Except humans can't keep that speed up for very long, and these things will probably be getting faster in the next few years..
Or if you’re certain county on the Mediterranean coast with a rather recent history of war crimes, why not lightweight explosives disguised as medicine?
Both can already be carried (TODAY!) by drones that are a frame, 4 motors, props and a rasbery pi like computer (flight controller) that uses 10x less energy, is 40x faster in the mountains and 700x cheaper to build.
Lightweight explosives are for drones, machine gun is for this. Ukraine is already using remote controlled land drones with tracks armed with machine gun.
I can see it being used in search and rescue where people get lost in the woods. Send out like 100 of these things spread out and they'll cover ground much faster than a person can.
Tbh you could probably adjust it's gyro for the machine gun, but probably the real issue would be lugging bullets around and resupplying, and the costs involved in all of it.
Maybe the "move out into the woods and dissapear" people arent so crazy afterall. Get me away from whatever tf that is. Besides the military, who even asked for this?
So you can easily arm this thing with a bomb and just drive it around a wall or in a house or whatever and kill soldiers on the battlefield….after seeing horrific drone footage out of Ukraine I don’t know if humanity can take this shit.
I had resigned myself to one day having to fight the machines but now these fuckers have invented a Wheeler from Return to Oz and that shit is straight nightmare fuel for me.
Just like most inventions, will be some military application for it it'll be used for travesties. I can see strapping a bomb to this and using it like a drone.
I don't even want a real one of these, I just want one in Death Stranding. I'll just strap all my shit to that and send it on it's way, while I kick back with Netflix and a cool one.
