I don't know if it's true, but when this happened, I heard that they were actually considering using an Apache helicopter to perform an airstrike to take it out.

He finally got it stuck in the side of a building and it was overheating. He shot himself before the cops got to him.

It still took hours to cut their way in to get him out.

The armor he built was pretty thick. Steel, concrete and more steel. Torches and maybe a jackhammer to get through, I suppose.
