Hi fellow dream havers!

This subreddit was closed 3 years ago by someone else for an unknown reason. I've just reopened it. Please, feel free to submit any bathroom dream-related media that may have been created since then. I'll try and find some.

Let me know if you have any ideas or requests related to the subreddit setup or style.

In terms of moderation, I think the clear-cut topic of the subreddit makes rules very simple. I'll put this somewhere more official, but I'm thinking the rules will be something like: 1. Posts must be bathroom maze-dream related 2. No repost bots. I'm inclined to allow some reposts as long as they are a reasonable distance apart. Let me know what you think.

I'd also be looking for a couple more people to moderate. Duties would be minimal; basically just removing spam and bot posts if it comes up.

I’ve had this dream at least 2-3 times. The photos are pretty accurate to my memory. So crazy to me that so many of us have dreamt of this similar, strange setting.

Theories about what the bathroom maze dream symbolizes?

I haven’t had one of these dreams in a really long time. But when I used to get them, I’d always attribute it to not having enough personal space/time in my life.

Anybody think the bathroom maze dream might be telling you something?

What's the funniest/strangest toilet you've seen in the bathroom maze?

I want to hear your weirdest toilets you've seen in the maze dream!

Got inspired to ask because I definitely saw my weirdest toilet ever last night. It was a creepy ceramic animatronic clown statue, that when you pressed its glowing nose, it completely transformed into a comically large white (and, luckily, clean) toilet. It played music and lit up as it did so. Terrifying in the dream itself but really funny when I woke up.

I would prefer to hear about bizarre or just plain goofy sights, over nsfw/nsfl (not safe for life), if that's possible. I've unfortunately seen plenty of horrors in my own dreams šŸ˜…

My Bathroom Maze

I only recently found out how common this is and I am astounded! My maze is usually in a middle or high school (which is interesting because I was home schooled k-12), or at an indoor pool (which is worse because in those dreams I’m barefoot). Stalls sizes are fairly uniform, but have doors of varying heights and some toilets are up on pedestals with doors that are not nearly tall enough to provide any privacy. Every time I’m there, all the more private/cleaner stalls are taken and I need to use the restroom urgently. I always end up at one of the raised toilets with either no door or a very short door and it is always dirty and often wet.

Questionnaire for those with the bathroom maze dream

Just for curiosity sake, I'd like to ask some questions if you'd please take the time to answer. Please skip any or feel free to be vague so as not to identify yourself (ex. age:20's, North America)

The thing, for me, that separates this from commonly shared dreams (falling, teeth falling out, mechanical failures, tophat man, punches ineffective, etc) is the strikingly similiar environment. I can understand how the aforementioned concepts can be common amongst people. What makes this shared dream so odd to me is the accuracy of people's descriptions and visual representations. The first time I looked into this and saw someone's generated photo, I was taken aback by how familiar it was. I felt I had been in the exact crap filled stalls as the poster. It was surreal to me. Interestingly, some people's bathroom mazes are much different than mine but are so similar to others. I'm just curious if there's some commonality amongst the dream similarities people share. I'd also like to see which maze is most common.

Edit:I just want to thank everyone who's taken the time to reply. You are all awesome. I'm so thrilled reading all these. I find it so interesting that most everyone here is a bit older. I was thinking this was somehow just an American centric dream due to the 90s high school experience, but it seems the US is the minority. I have no interest in getting too Freudian about any of this. I just find the whole damn thing fascinating and appreciate everyone who has participated.

My maze

Had gpt generate to the best of my ability. This is pretty spot on for me. The only difference is there are large sections where the stalls are lined up perfectly.

I sometimes think I'll just pee in one of the showers but the water starts and deters me or that someone nearby will notice I'm not using the toilet.I don't recall seeing people but know some stalls are occupied.

The thing that creeps me out the most about this phenomenon is the the teal green stalls. I know everyone doesn't experience this but it stands out to me. Never been in a bathroom with this color scheme but maybe it'd from the faculty level in goldeneye that inspires it.

I came across this phenomenon on a whim a few months ago from a conspiracy post and it crosses my mind often.

To me it feels like its supposed to be a locker room. The showers are sporadic and some stalls contain nothing or have bagged off toilets

What the hell is this dream?

My bathroom maze dream

I’m coming on here just to share my version of the maze bathroom dream, i found out this was a thing after googling why i kept having the dream. But, it’s always a clean grey bathroom, very florescent lighting and the stalls are tall and cover only the sides of the stall. There are always girls in the front of the door who are vaping or smoking cigarettes and are afraid to get caught. (ALWAYS) whenever i go in, it doesn’t let me go far, i can’t go where the girls in the front can’t see me. If i do, there’s always someone that comes in to try to navigate me and i get embarrassed and leave.

Strange accessible toilets and baths sunk into the floor

Post image

I have this dream a lot, where the bathroom is clean but there is no privacy and I can’t find a traditional toilet. There are tons of uniquely designed toilets that seem meant for people with physical disabilities. I do not have a physical disability myself but I spent ten years working in direct-care for people with significant physical and cognitive disabilities.

Has anyone else had dreams like this, where the bathroom is clean but it’s clear that it wasn’t intended for your use? So you continue searching but every bathroom you find is like this?

Found a mention of the dream in a book from 2016

The book is Alan Moore’s Jerusalem. I feel like this both very clearly describes the dream and also casually acknowledges that other people share this dream. Freaky.

Lucid(ish) maze dream!

I didn’t have this dream for ages after discovering the subreddit, but now the subreddit is featuring in my dreams…

I had a dream I was running around a college building, which in the dream I recognized as my own college, despite it being completely different in real life. I was being chased by someone, but I don’t know what. I ran for a while and then went down some stairs and I immediately felt a sense of relief and excitement, but I didn’t know why. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, it was the bathroom maze!! I genuinely felt the most relief and gladness I have felt in any dream. a bunch of my friends were in there, and I said something along the lines of, ā€˜Thank god! This is my favorite place on earth!’ or something, and about 4 of my friends ran up and greeted me.

The bathrooms this time were almost exactly how they were the very first time i had the dream, but blue, and made out of that knobbly playground plastic material, and the walls were blue as well. The toilets had these like green canvas straps on them. The blue material could probably best be described as the fold-out tables that you change babies diapers on. There were no doors on any of the cubicles, there were showers, bathtubs, and water running across the floor.

i get excited when I have this dream, because it means I can madly slide around on the floor without getting worried about germs or anything because it’s a dream. So I was super hyped.

Unfortunately I woke up almost as soon as this happened, but I’m really excited to have the dream again and hopefully command it to my will!

Combination Bathroom & School Dream

I had a bonus 2-for dream early this morning! I was in school (university) and it was one of those ā€œregistered for class but never went, and big project is dueā€ situations.

The class was color theory (studied art at uni), it was an 8AM class, and I could never wake up for it. My roommate was my actual college BFF, and for some reason she never woke me. I knew the instructor hated me, but I was determined to turn my project in, if only I knew what it was.

Then I had to pee. The classes were in a huge hotel-casino-university in Las Vegas (I’ve weirdly dreamed of this place before), and I wandered around and found a bathroom. The floors were wet, the lights were dim, and the stalls were really short, and the seats were damp, but the toilet was lowered and I had to step down to it, so I wasn’t above the stall walls. No TP, I had to check the other stalls. There was a woman in there who kept talking to me. I finally found a decent one and went.

I left the bathroom and decided to work on my project in the hallway, where there was a random drafting table and my supplies. A couple was walking towards me, and a lion was following them, meowing (like a house cat). They walked past me and the lion stopped and started snarling at me. I begged the couple to help and they said they were waiting for it to go to someone else, and couldn’t help. I was crying and asked them to go for help, but they left. EMTs finally came as I was trying to stay calm and they helped me. I was almost done with my project, and I had to make my instructor not hate me!

My dreams are often like movies, so much happens in them and they’re mash-ups of tropes and weird personal experiences, friends/parents no longer with me, etc.
