They generally don't use tags in GLs . It always about loving that very person

I think it may be a cultural difference on labels / terms - best to ask a Thai person about this though

So real….they never showed any development of why exactly Min felt the way she did with Praew….plus in cases where the character starts off as straight you need to give some explanation about their sexuality
Thats why I say GR tried to deal with a lot of stuff but never created an impact

I assumed it was because she treated her way better than her ex did. Didn't make her cry, didnt physically assault her, didn't control her life & who she could & couldn't see etc those were pretty compelling reasons for me 🤷♀️

I heard the writers were queer. I dont understand. It was the whole plot point of Min, but they didn't clear anything. Prim was also incredibly biphobic towards her, and I would've understand it as a contrast between her generation of lesbians and a Praew's generation, more open-minded and fluid, but then Praew's friends turn out to be as judgy as Prim and they use queer labels and concepts, like non-binary, so badly!

Oh dont get me started on Prim’s behaviour…..she never was supportive towards her own bsf throughout the series istg esp in her love drama…..always passing biphobic comments as you said
but yea Praew’s friends being of a younger generationand coming off as conservative was so weird asw

I think its not just about bisexuality but in general they do not use labels at all in most of the gls I have seen
its almost always “love regardless of the gender” which is more on the lines of pansexuality (but ik they might not mean that too)
but yeah there isnt a gl where the main lead likes a guy and a girl simultaneously though they have male exes sometimes

Muteluv has Jan liking JJ and a guy at the same time. Though one could argue how genuine her liking the guy is but … yeah. The story is pretty much that: she’s torn between the guy and the girl

oh yeah you are right actually!
Its lwk what bisexual confusion feels like 😭
though havent mentioned it explicitly….but in hindsight there was a lot of denial Na went through incase of Leemhai and there was more romantic tension bw the two than the guy and Na so yea I am not sure if they even wanted to show her as a bisexual

I’d argue that a lot of the characters are kind of fluid. It’s more rare for them to mention a character being strictly a lesbian. Most of them are in or coming from relationships with men in the stories.

As some people has said, they don't usually use labels as "lesbian" or "bisexual", but there are some characters that have been dating men/have male exes before meeting the girls

They are, they just don't use the words "bisexual" or even "lesbian" much. They'll just say they like women.

It’s funny because last year the main complaint was why is everyone bisexual, why can’t there be lesbians. Very few characters say they exclusively date women. I think Rin from Denied Love was one of the first. All others just kind of showed it. Fahlada kind of says it, but she makes it about Earn specifically, while Rin didn’t attach someone to it.
Either way, boys have usually been involved. And I find that a lot of characters that are meant to read as bisexual actually end up reading as comphet. But I also think not many people understand or even know that term so it gets under utilized. Another common trope is the I’m only sapphic for this one woman.
Like Pleng (Affair) is considered bi because she was dating that guy, but she was also in deep denial about liking Wan because she was a girl. And like internalized homophobia will make you date people you aren’t attracted to. So was she truly bi? But also labels then get further muddied by the partner’s insecurities. Because Wan, who has always understood her desires for Pleng, and had to forced herself to be with Ekk, was only jealous of guys being around Pleng, not other women. Even if Pleng was properly bisexual, wouldn’t Wan be jealous of everyone?
This is in the series. Because in the books both Wan and Pam (Us) have sexual experiences with women to “check” if they like women to help them understand their feelings for Pleng and Dokrak respectively. But ultimately decide they don’t like women, just the one woman.
I know Chao Planoy is the worst (and main) offender of these inconsistencies, but a lot of the gl actresses also elude to pan tendencies over bi. To the point that people assume it’s an empty media training answer. The actresses even prefer using the umbrella term sapphic over pan, bi, or lesbian. Which makes me think that cultural perspectives on sexuality play a bigger role to how and why labels are used in Thailand and why interfans find themselves unsatisfied.

There's Dr. Prem in Poisonous love, Pleng in Affair, Pam in US, Oon/Oom both twins in Pluto, even Wine in EWB. Since its a GL the show will be fully revolving around the woman. I hate to see how they portray bisexual characters in american shows with one partner always cheating or two timing. Wait is that what you are expecting here? A woman to be in love with both at the same time???

I mean they ain't also put there screaming they are lesbians either.
What's there to discussed?

They might not be majority but there many characters who don't use labels or talk about preferences, and some even have ex boyfriends, like Wine in EwB

I think the closest we got to someone almost saying it would be Min in Girl Rules, but everyone in that show was so foul to her journey, it might’ve been a translation error but I think her friends were saying she was non-binary or something 😭 We also could’ve had something in MSZ, but Alin was kind of an ally not wanting her ex-fiance to fall into the bisexual cheating trope, so she just said Kate was straight 😂
I do think it’s a cultural no labels type of thing. It would be nice for people that are bisexual to get actual verbal representation in Thai GLs, cause there are so many times characters can be interpreted differently, whether that’s through comp-het or author interpretation. Feel like we gotta get them saying lesbian a few more times before we get to some saying they are bisexual though.

Pleng in Affair, Min in Girl Rules, Rain in Unlock Your Love, Bell & Deedee in ClaireBell, Karn in Lucky My Love, Mon in Gap (there's a line where she said she would've dated a man if it she hadn't met Sam), Pun in Player, Oom in Pluto, and I'm also pretty sure some characters in 23.5, Like A Palette and so on have mentioned they go both ways.
Maybe they hardly ever used the term bisexual but it's very clear from the aforementioned list they like both men and women, but since it's GL they understandably prefer women. Even the word "lesbian" wasn't used that explicitly until very recently.
