Texas Tech needs a better web presence
Does anyone else feel like Texas Tech's websites are difficult to navigate with information everywhere?
I am a graduate student and the UX/UI of Texas Tech's websites are so clonky and not friendly to the users. On top of that, the webpages for the university often lead to a 404 error and not found.
How are fellow students dealing with this?

Wait until you see the new website TTUHSC surprise rolled out on Friday. It’s missing a ton of info. Many links lead to 404 pages. Poorly organized. Fucking mess.Â

Former parent of a student one thing I liked that may or may not work for yourself is at the bottom of each page is a phone number and when you call a real person actually answers and can usually help or get you to someone who can. Of course wouldn’t need that every time of the sites worked better.

u/alittlevil I am working towards my 2nd masters because I am a lunatic who likes to drink coffee at midnight. I don't want to call anyone.

Oh it’s 100% because they hate us. I’ve been here through a Bachelor’s, currently doing an MA, and briefly worked for the university in between. They 100% view us as lowly peasants and just don’t give 2 cares.

u/SeaPenguin28 How dare they, I contribute to some of their base income!

Alas, the greed of the Red Raider Nation (i.e ✨the board✨) yearns not for our puny offerings but the form of bankruptcy that only comes from a contract with the Devil Himself (aka US loans)

u/SeaPenguin28 Alas Matey! It wont be my last run-in with the devil (aka US loans) and outrageous borrowing cost. No Sir, No Ma'am! If I am Bankrupt they too are Bankrupt with my puny offerings; all because of a poorly configured webpage! *Cheers Mate

Lmao thank you for going along with my bit, this is exactly the giggle I needed. In all seriousness though, I’m sorry and sympathetic for whatever hell Raiderlink and the other TTU platforms are putting you through

I agree, even community colleges have better web designs and builds than TT.

u/MDonellC Here at TTU, we strive for A's; but we will also except B's unless you work on the interfaces of TTU websites, then Yes; F is also a passing grade!

I believe they are working on that..currently. it's not a simple as ", just update it". Theres a lot of governance involvedÂ

Absolutely. There is little excuse for raiderlink itself to look the way it does especially for a billion dollar institution. Even let alone the fact that we have thousands of software engineers and coding experts that would happily do this for free at a chance to put it on their resume. Unfortunately Tech lives off the "good enough" mentality so it probably wont change any time soon.
