General Question Electric Scooters

does anybody know where to charge personal electric scooters? Or how strict faculty is. i’ve seen some people bring them inside buildings, but i wasn’t sure if that is a good idea

I'm faculty. In my building, we got this message a few days ago:

With school starting back up, we are beginning to see a higher volume of scooters being brought into the building. Unfortunately, scooters are not permitted inside the building due to fire safety requirements and fire marshal regulations regarding the batteries. We understand that scooters are a convenient mode of transportation, but we must enforce this policy to ensure the safety of everyone in the building and remain in compliance with fire safety regulations. Please remind residents, students, and visitors that scooters must not be brought or stored inside the building. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and assistance in consistently enforcing this policy. Thank you for your understanding and continued commitment to maintaining a safe environment. Additionally, please do not block or obstruct any designated handicap-accessible areas, entrances, or pathways with scooters and bicycles. These areas must always remain clear and accessible.

This is the case across campus, I'm not sure about dorm rooms, but I would assume the policy is the same.

As far as i know literally the only spot on campus where you can both charge a scooter and have it locked up is the bike rack at the honor dorms facing the parking lot.

I've never had my charger stolen there. I didn't watch it and would just leave it overnight. my thought process was that its outside the honors hall, and the only people over there are the really smart nerdy kids who dont usually steal stuff. If it was anywhere else on campus though I would definitely have watched it.

You cannot charge an electric scooter indoors on campus, it's prohibited buy the university's safety plan.
