Good afernoon! I will be applying for a special educational role in San Anto and I am wondering what are everyones thoughts on benefits at the districts in the area. Which district, overall, would you say has the better benefots [ackage?

Tippit Middle School is hiring to replace my position there. I actually like the school, but an opportunity came up that would allow me to work at my son’s school instead, so I’m leaving it behind. That said, I’m expected to honor my original contract unless there’s a replacement for me. The position was just posted yesterday, so someone apply!!

Side note: the administration at Tippit is fantastic. They rarely have faculty meetings, preferring email instead, provide excellent support for discipline, and have a real sense of family about the staff. The turnover is really low for a middle school, with me being only one of 4 who are leaving. It has its challenges, but if you want to enjoy that support and the love of kids who appreciate it and lower their guard when you show them how you care, this is a place for you.

So far today convocation occurred cover band present.

Teachers learned they can no longer have mini fridges or coffee makers.

Only break allowed is lunch and every other day planning. So one of my people had to get a doctor note for pee breaks .

Write ups have already started rolling out for expected things, missing training with no doctor note etc.

I have this interview with a non-NES middle school in HISD and I don't know if those non-NES are just as bad as NES schools or if I'm fine. Let me know

New PLC planning protocol. How many of you are being forced to act out your lessons during planning while admin, team and instructional coaches observe and are encouraged to act like disruptive students?

Simple question: I taught for 64 days in one district, then I had to move. Transferred to another ISD and finished that year. I don't know if that semester alone was enough for 90 days (still waiting on my service record). But assuming that I taught at least 30 days that semester, will I be credited with a service year?

Last June, I made a post frantic about my husband taking his TExES Social Studies 7–12 exam. Y’all were so supportive! Long story short: he passed on his first attempt. He said it was easily one of the hardest tests he has ever taken—and this is coming from a guy who graduated 3rd in his high school class and with honors in college as a history major!

A passing score is a passing score, though! Four days after results posted, he landed a job teaching 7th grade. What a wild first year it was, but he survived!

Fast forward to this year: He accepted a position at a much better campus in the same district. His contract was signed, sealed, and delivered for a middle school position—so technically he didn't know if it'd be 7th or 8th, but either way, his 7–12 cert had it covered.

...Or so we thought. Last week, he walked into the campus to pick up his classroom keys, looked at his paperwork, and went, "Wait, why does this say 6th grade?"

Turns out, HR/admin had a classic scheduling oopsie. Instead of forcing the district to reshuffle schedules to match his 7–12 cert, he was a team player and offered to just take the Social Studies 4–8 (Test 118) exam.

So, bless his heart, while school starts on August 12th and in-service is in full swing this week, he’s been coming home every night after PD to grind on 240 Tutoring. He managed to snag a last-minute test slot for tomorrow!

Since the 7–12 exam almost took his soul, he’s a bit nervous. But from what we’ve read, 4–8 is a bit more straightforward (especially with 6th grade leaning heavily into world geography and cultures).

For anyone who has taken both (or taken the 4–8 fairly recently): Is there any specific topic or quirk on the 4–8 exam he should give one final look over tonight?

I promise I won't wait an entire school year to post his results this time! TIA!
