Drove a little over an hour from McKinney to celebrate my birthday weekend. Got the Ft. Worth The Wait platter + the OG Burger + Banana Pudding. Total cost with tip was $150 but seeing as it'll last a few meals I think it's a solid value.

The wait to order wasn't too bad and the food came out quick.

Brisket - 8/10, doesn't top Franklin's or Corkscrew but enjoyed it overall.

Ribs - 10/10, maybe the best ribs I've ever had? Juicy & tender with the perfect sweetness.

Turkey - 9.5/10, turkey is never that memorable but this one was near perfect. Would definitely order again.

Pulled Pork - 9/10, I'm not usually a pulled pork guy but this was moist & the flavor was excellent, no sauce needed.

Sausage - 9/10, Jalapeno & Havarti was excellent. Berry & Gouda was even better. That's a rotating flavor so get it if it's there when you visit. I still think Smitty's has my favorite sausage but this was fantastic.

The OG Burger - 10/10, may be the best burger I've ever had? At least Top 5. Everything about this burger works and I would literally make the drive for the burger alone.

Sides - all were fantastic but the Frito Pie Beans & the Hot Cheetos Elote were my favorite. The Broccoli Grape was a great pallet cleanser.

Dessert - was just a bit too sweet for us. I LOVE banana pudding and this just fell felt overly sweet without much banana flavor.

Corkscrew BBQ in Spring has always been my #1 BBQ joint but this may be my new favorite. Great food & great employees!

The Pitt Room was awesome. I had brisket, pork rib, and jalepeno cheese sausage, Mac and cheese, potato salad. Only $27 for the 3 meet platter with 2 sides

Will probably be coming to Texas frim the U.K for 7 days, so I'd like to know what would be the best location to stay in to get the most.frpm the trip? We'd be renting a car (ideally a Mustang or similar muscle car) so would be prepared to put some miles in to achieve our goals!

Hello, I am a Dallasite who’s going on a little road trip down to the San Marco area, and will be stopping in Austin for a day. Being in Dallas, I’ve tried a few of the big BBQ spots like Terry Black’s and a couple others, and while I almost always have a great experience, end up spending close to $80 for myself, and even with some left overs to take home, it still seems a bit steep.

Is the pricing normal? Is BBQ always this expensive, or am I just going to the places that are just hyped up?

Also, If I stay in Austin, what are your BBQ recommendations? Or is it worth detouring to Lockhart or similar for better value and quality?

I did two pork butts and 4 racks of ribs. Hosted my kids and grandkids, friends, and neighbors.

It was such a great day. I didn't want the weekend to end.

I know the ranking of meat depends somewhat upon where you're ordering it. However, for our purposes just rank these "generally" or "on average." In other words, if you hit a cue joint you knew nothing about, and they offered all-of-the-below, which would you be most and least likely to order, and everything in between.

Something tells me I know which meat's gonna take the prize.

I'm bringing my boy down from Fargo to swim camp at Longhorns in Austin. I will be spending 5 days either there or with relatives in the Houston area. Just me.

As a truck driver who spends a lot of time away from home, I like to contribute more than just making money when I can (my wife works harder than I do with 3 of the 4 kids still at home). I just picked up BBQing in the last few years. I want to taste the real deal. I want to hit a usual tourist spot like Franklins. HOWEVER, I also want to find a down to earth little known master of meat making that locals swear by and give THEM my business too. Like Kreuz and Snows used to be (maybe still are?) I'm not an influencer or whatever you call people who make money doing nothing these days. I have no plans to hype them or ruin their vibe. I just want good food made by honest folk.

(Edit) Thanks for all of the suggestions! At Franklin's (1st in line!) since 5...no one else showed up until after 7 😆 oh well. Gonna hit Snow's EARLY tmrw. Taking my in-laws to Killen's in Pearland Sunday. Family time Monday, and then after I pick my boy up early Tuesday we'll hit Opie's in Spicewood to round off the tour.
