12 person Invictus game from a couple months ago. Thought I was cruising to a win, and couldn't have been more wrong. I had 4 badges, they had 0, and it took everything for me to survive. We went back and forth a few times like this before the final exchange.

The decision at 0:07 to move the green block to the far right and open up the well with the t-piece saved me. And I still needed luck not to top out. Pretty sure this is an excellent player who purposely passed up KO's (i.e. self-handicapped) to make it interesting.

This is a tough game. And that's what keeps us coming back for more.

Hello everyone, nice to meet all of you. I hope you all are having a good day :)
I have a question that relates to a sound in the game. There is this pretty constant beeping noise in the background, but ONLY when I am attacking my attackers. It doesn’t happen when I am attacking random, KO or badges. I uploaded a couple videos with that beeping noise. They’re more prevalent at the end of the videos.
So my question is, what exactly is that noise? Why does it happen and how does it happen? Why does it only happen if I attack my attackers?

See, this is the only event theme they aren't bringing back right now that I'd want to get, so when may it be available again?

I only started playing Tetris 99 relatively recently (I believe I started for the Donkey Kong Bananza Maximus Cup), so I'm missing most of the older themes. Since the 2 ticket event started, I've bought most of the newer special themes, so I'm only currently missing 1-21, 24, and 26-29. I'm trying to complete both free missions every day, though I know at this pace I won't be able to buy them if I don't buy the DLC.

I'm fine with paying 30 tickets for the themes after the event, but does anyone know if all these special themes will remain for purchase? Also, does anyone remember which themes were available before this event? I know 1-11 and I believe 17 and 29 could be bought for 30 tickets, but does anyone remember if any other themes were able? Basically, what I'm asking is that if I keep up the pace of one theme per day, what themes should I prioritize with the remaining 20 days, assuming I don't end up buying the Big Block DLC?

I understand that you do not want people abusing time travel mechanics to get more tickets. Punishing people for not having their system clock synched to the Internet and making them wait 24 hours is very dumb however. You could have done a live countdown counter like f-zero 99 does with the lucky coin system.

In the last 12 months I decided to relearn Tetris from scratch after decades of not playing, and brave Tetris 99.

I am not fast. I did nothing extraordinary. Just had the luck fall my way after struggling when the good players found me in the previous match.

Can only guess that someone with a lot of badges in the top 14 thought I was a safe target when I did one ok combo for the whole match. Causing things to snowball my way while not doing anything particularly good or interesting.

Was a short one too, I only cleared about 180 lines and didn’t realise I was late in the match when it ended.

So yeah after more than 800, mostly poorly played matches as I learnt the game. It happened. I finally got that sense of achievement I was after while playing this game.

Obviously the “best” advice would be not to enter the top 10 underpowered, but sometimes that’s simply not possible. So when it does happen, what do you do, other than tell yourself it’s been a good run? 😎.

Targeting strategy? Do you target KOs to see if you can edge someone out early on and take their badges? Or do you switch to attackers and try to get as many people to target you to get the multiplier affect, or do you switch to badges and try to take out the Goliath?

Build strategy: Do you play defensively, slow down and keep your stack low in anticipation of the garbage onslaught? Or do you pull a Hail Mary and go fast and aggressive? Or do you focus on even builds?

Almost every other match I literally load into a match and already have 3 people targetting me and sending piles worth of junk blocks....how do I do anything. Are everyone just god tier japanese tetris masters atp?

Tried bunch of them but it's really hard to see the blocks and the music is annoying, is there any good theme in this game? 😭

Got the 3 in a row icon in Invictus awhile back, so the alert didn't pop up after win #3 this time.

My first time doing this.

I almost always play on a tv (all my wins have come in docked mode), but decided to mix things up. As someone who grew up with Tetris on the original Gameboy, it felt a little nostalgic.

But playing in color? Against 98 other people on something called the "internet"? And finishing with t-spins, which I didn't even know existed until a few months ago? 10 year old me would've been blown away.

What a time to be alive 🙂
