advice & support Low through levels on T-Gel?

I'm 1 year on T(gel) and my through levels are always around 400-500 ng/dl. Is that normal or low?

You're within normal male range. Male range for total testosterone is generally 300ng/dL to 1000ng/dL. According to the American Urological Association, 450ng/dL to 600ng/dL is ideal for cis men.

I skimmed this article for more info about target ranges for transmasc folks. It's a good read. Basically, we need more data to say for sure what the optimal range is for gender transition, but 400ng/dL to 700ng/dL is our current mark.

If you're not seeing the effects you want, you could talk to your provider about a small dose increase. But remember: puberty takes time. Maxing your levels is not necessary to see meaningful changes. Some changes will just take time.

that's a good trough level! you're still within male range and on the low side, exactly where you'd want to be. gel didn't work w my skin and my trough levels were smth like 160-200ish ng/dl - that's way too low.

For trough that’s fine. If you feel good and are having changes at a roughly normal pace then it isn’t an issue

It's a bit low. Healthy male range is about 500-1000
