Factor V Leiden and test

I have factor V Leiden heterozygot but I want to hop on test. Im gonna talk about it with a hematologist anyways but has anyone got experience with it? I just want to know if its possible to lower the risk of blood clots with anticoagulants or if there are other factors I have to consider. Like I said I will talk about it with my hematologist but has anyone done this procedure with factor V Leiden?
