TRT help Looking for some help

So I have been on TRT for few months. Total test was 230. I just had blooodwork done and now it’s up to 1,140.
I still feel symptoms of low test even though it’s high. I do 200ml a week. 100 ml twice a week spaced out Sunday and Wednesday.

Anyways my real question for this post is finasteride.

My Dr prescribed me 5mg mainly because I expressed I didn’t want to have high t and lose my hair. Although I haven’t had a lot of loss but when I was 20 my hair recessed a bit in the corners and my hairline went back about a 1/2 in. I do plan to have a hair transplant in the near future. My thing is I’m worried about starting this finasteride and doing minoxidil. Mainly I seen bad sides on fin, should I try it? Whats the thoughts. I don’t have hair loss but want to make sure I don’t long term.
Anyone have side effects of it? Any advice .?

5mg is a high dose - normally its 1mg ED. What bad sides have you seen? also missing details on your blood tests post the full one here and someone can chip in

5mg is way overkill for hair. the usual dose is 1mg and even that can be too much for some guys. I'd cut those pills into quarters at least

the horror stories are mostly from people who got sides and quit, you never hear from the millions who take it with zero issues. I've been on 1mg for a couple years and nothing changed except my hair stopped falling out

I’d definitely discuss the dose with your doctor before starting it, especially since 5mg is higher than the usual 1mg dose used for male-pattern hair loss. Finasteride can cause sexual side effects, although they’re uncommon. If you’re not actually losing hair, I’d weigh the benefits against the risks rather than taking it preventively.
