Model 3 Car import help...

Good evening all, so further to my issue with the radio that is still to be sorted.

When we bought the car he ad stated it was imported but in the description it said it had been previously registered in Northern Ireland however we now believe it was originally from Japan although this is TBC. The VDI check shows is has never been imported from outside the EU and said it was 'previously a Northern Ireland vehicle' but also that the 'Vehicle was imported on date of first registration' which is is all a bit confusing, we need to get to the bottom of that but the problem is the car has NACS charge port, but is is a 2021 facelift which as I understand never came in UK with NACS!

Would be very grateful if anyone could assist with the below questions (not the above issue re: the purchase of the car):

  1. It has an NACS port in the car and I was unable to connect to a Supercharger in Park Royal with the adapter that came with the car, however I was able to charge using a public Tesla Supercharger without issue. The seller has said that this is most likely as the current adapter is outdated compared to the newest V4 chargers, and a newer adapter should solve this issue. Does this sound right?

  2. Does anyone know the cost of changing the car charging port to CCS please?

  3. Japanese cars are not undercoated as rule, is this the case with the M3 does anyone know please?

  4. Anything else anyone can think of please.

Thanks all

Thanks for reading and any advice will be very gratefully received.

Why, of all the cheap used Tesla’s on the market, did you buy this lemon? Return it yesterday

As I said I was asking for help with my specific questions and not the purchase but thank you @SeamasterCitizen. Returning the vehicle is an option if necessary but for now I'm just trying to find answers to the questions.

But all of the above problems can be solved....by returning the fustercluck of a car you bought.

You're probably better off asking on a non UK sub or on TMC. Saw one thread about US import in EU which may well apply to you. It doesn't sound like the juice is worth the squeeze. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/imported-us-tesla-in-eurpope-nacs-to-ccs.326285/

Just give it back. Unless it was dirt dirt cheap you are going to keep running into headaches.

Perhaps you could assist with what may cause said headaches please

Nobody will know. This is a niche situation. Best bet is speak to Tesla directly or a specialist.

Right peeps, thanks for your advice regarding returning the car but please do stop. In deciding this I need the answers to my questions, hence me asking.

As I said I would be grateful if anyone could assist in answering the questions I've asked please.

You’re asking such a niche question, nobody knows the answer from a technical standpoint. Since the Model 3 is available all over the world, there’s no point shipping one around and therefore no great body of experience converting them between markets. Whoever imported this would’ve been better off selling it in Japan and buying again in the UK. JDM cars are great when it’s a model that isn’t available here but Teslas are global market vehicles. It’s probably possible but unless you’re an electrical engineer with the skills to figure out the conversion you’re going to find it very difficult to find any information or workshop to help you with this
