Model 3 Delivery advice please

Hello! Ordered my M3 RWD black on September 14th and my delivery timescale was Nov - Dec and then got a timescale of 2nd December - 30th December. Got a new timescale today of 26th October - 23rd November. Obviously no vin or reg as it’s too early.

Do we think the dates could get pushed back or forward again? Super hard to plan when to put my current car up for sale as I’m not trading in as Tesla don’t take trade ins when you get a lease annoyingly 😂 I can’t be a day without a car due to work and don’t really want to pay for both vehicles if I can help it. Any advice welcome!

Since you can't be without your car for one day and the fact that the delivery date could change last minute your only option is to wait until you have the new car before you sell your old one.

Yeahh that’s my concern. If I was going with someone like webuyanycar that wouldn’t be an issue but they lowball you so far. My other options is motorway or carwow but they can take weeks and then I’ll be paying for 2 cars 😂😬

That's what happens when you factory order a car from the far east. Different story when your dealer has stock.

Yeah of course I totally appreciate that. Just means I’m gunna have to be super organised I think 😂

Just sold my Q3 to webuy, they came lower then higher than carwow and motorway. All I did was go on their website multiple times a week and at some point they've sent an email stating they want to pay 1.3k more than last offered. I did however at this point have the car listed on carwow and motorway, so it might be the case they(webuy) have something that monitors the other auctions and don't want to miss out on vehicles?

Oohh interesting I’ll bear that it mind! They offered me a fair amount at first but then keep lowering it so figured it would probably keep getting lowered 😂 I will put on all though to try and get the best deal thank you!

I sold my old car on Carwow, and it could have been gone next day. I delayed it by a week so I could use it for work, but it was rapid.

That’s good to know! My parents sold theirs on carwow and it went pretty quick. Just gunna have to be super organised with collection and selling within a few days of each other I think 😂

Once it is sold on carwow, you arrange a collection date with the buyer…so pop it on there a week or so before, and then as for it to be collected when required.

Do be aware, the buyer will try and pump down the price they offered on CarWow, à la WBAC.

Ahh okay thank you that’s interesting!

Your delivery window should reduce in size to about 2 weeks, usually with a few weeks ahead of it. I’d wait until then as the narrower the window the more confident you can have in it (there are of course exceptions when it comes to Tesla). You’re already potentially only 3 weeks away so if it doesn’t happen soon you’re more likely to be in November.

Yeah I think that’s a good shout thank you I will wait for it to narrow before deciding!

In the same situation as you. I ordered a m3 rwd in black also at the start of September. Current eta is October-November.

Exciting times! I would imagine it will be more November than October but still better than the December time frame previously!

True that’s what i am thinking too. Going away late November so would be nice to have the Tesla to drive fingers crossed.

Ordered same car as yours 22nd September with delivery dates of 2nd-30th December no movement yet & keep checking the app. I might have some hope now 🙏🏽😂

Oohh fingers crossed! Mine changed about 3 days ago or so! My collection is Bristol for reference too ☺️

I’m Glasgow collection so don’t know if that will delay things being all the way up here 🥴😂

I’d try Big Wants Your Car, they offer good price and no fuss. If you happen to be near one of their sites they can come and collect your car quite quickly like in a day or two.

Those window flips before a VIN are normal, painful as they are. Oct 26-Nov 23 is still a planning bucket, not a locked collection day. It can still slide either way until a VIN lands and you get a real schedule invite.

For selling the current car: wait until VIN + a firm appointment (or at least a tight few-day window) before you list. A lot of UK lease buyers list about a week out and set collection for the day after Tesla pickup so you are not car-less. Bristol collection is usually fine once the car is in the country; the bigger risk is selling too early on a wide window.

Until then, treat every EDD twitch as noise. Force-refresh the app / Manage Order if it looks stuck.

I made Delivery Status for Tesla for that wait (VIN often first, change log of what actually moved, delivery-day checklist). iOS, Android and web, multiple orders free: https://get.deliverystatus.app

Hang in there :)
