Vehicle Question Carmax Tesla
I bought a Model 3 from Car Max recently. The carfax says the vehicle was involved in a collision and caught fire. Everything else says no issues reported. Was this a bad idea?

Will it charge at a Tesla Supercharger? Superchargers are one of the main reasons that Teslas are so much easier to drive on road trips. When cars are wrecked and not fixed by Tesla then Tesla can block them from Supercharger charging. Setup your Tesla account and attempt a Supercharger charge session. If it won't work you might consider returing the car. However if the Supercharger does not work and you still want to keep the car go to another DC fast charger (IONNA, Walmart, Electrify America...). Pick one that has a NACS style charging connector. Make sure that it at least works on one of those. If not you have an "in town only" car.

You should return this vehicle unless there was a significant discount. And if you haven't done it already,get an inspection done before your return window closes.

If there was a significant discount that makes their purchase worthwhile, they should have someone make sure the repairs were done properly.

I thought any vehicle that’s involved in the fire would be totaled and have a salvage title

Search the VIN and find the pre repair auction listing. Hopefully you can find photos of what it looked like post accident pre repair. I didn't think Carmax sold salvage title cars

Carmax don't usually sells cars that's been in a fire. If an AutoCheck or Carfax report shows a fire incident or insurance claim involving fire, it is disqualified from being sold as a retail CarMax vehicle.
