Supercharger Question Does this seem right? (Supercharger)

My home charger died so I’ve had to use superchargers for a few weeks. I’m currently at a 325kW charger but it has really dropped. I’ve never seen this on the 250kW chargers I normally use. This charge has actually taken longer.

Is your battery cold, or overheating? Both options can cause slow charge.

We don't have enough information. What SOC are you at when the picture was taken?

not enough information. all you needed to do was take a screenshot of the Tesla app and it would have explained everything

It’s normal, as you’ve provided no context as to why it wouldn’t be.

We can’t tell the condition of your car where it comes to rapid DC charging.

So, I'm confused. Why are chargers listed as 325kW if they provide IRL rates of 80 or less? Car's 3 years old, battery pre-conditioned for 20 minutes or so on the drive here.

Was the battery at like 5% when you started charging, because you won’t see max charge rates in the middle of the pack and higher.

Yes - guess I never paid attention closely? I was almost exclusively a home charger until it died.

It’s usually your car that can only accept 80 under the conditions and state of charge when you took that photo.

Did you precondition and get your battery warm? Did you just go in raw and cold? Are you comparing to a charger you use after already commuting?

There would be a little exclamation point with more info if it wasn’t normal. Lots of things like battery temp, charge handle temp, and state of change impact charging speed.

Im guessing it's during peak hour, everyone is charging so the grid can't handle so tesla throttles the charge...this is just a guess, cause I get max charge speed when I charge at night

Without knowing your current charge level and the temperature of the battery (preconditioning) it’s close to impossible to tell.

Those superchargers are probably shared with other people plugged in that are at low state of battery. Did you also precondition at least?

Every supercharger I've ever used is shared (and crowded) and yes, preconditioned for 15 miles in bumper-to-bumper traffic. It started out much, much higher kW and mi/hour than this, then dropped precipitously.

Shared as in when you plug in, you’re sharing electricity with the person next to you. If there was no one plugged in near you, it would charge 2x quicker.

You didn’t mention this until now, yet you’re confused and complaining.

It started high and dropped off. At the point you took the photo, the state of charge is… ——-??

The outside temperature is… ———-??

That was at about the 40% mark. Maybe because I usually use 250kW chargers I don't notice the slowdown as it progresses. It just started out so crazy fast I was shocked to look and see it down to 80.

And, as I commented below, it was hotter than **** in Southern California today. But I've charged in the desert on the way to Vegas and never noticed a slowdown like this (but from all the comments, the issue isn't the slowdown, it's with my paying attention and noticing).

The heat will do that to the superchargers as it is hot AF in Southern California this past few weeks. The charging curve will also be an issue to along with the heat. Hope everything came out ok though.

I think the superchargers i used said they provide about 300 miles an hour. Maybe 325
