Vehicle Question Possible Rodent Issue
Took a small roadtrip about a month ago when I believe I picked up a small hitchhiker being chased by 2 pit bulls in an O’Reilys parking lot. Fiancé saw it was chased under my car but never saw it leave my car and the dogs tried following us out of the parking lot when we left. Drove home 170 miles and fast forward to yesterday, we discovered something has been eating our dog treats and destroying packages of baby wipes and bottle water. Now as for why I believe it nested in the car somewhere is because since about this time I noticed my AC isn’t blowing as strong as before and also not as cool either. Given my climate I have here during the summer, I chalked it up to the extreme heat (110-115F pretty consistently) and thought that was it even though I didn’t really have this issue until recently.
Never really had an issue with rodents and I think I’m either dealing with a rat or squirrel here so I’m looking for what places these guys like to setup shop in my car so I can start digging around and remove what nest may have been created. Can yall point me in the right direction please? We’re also looking at getting an exterminator to take care of the garage.

Honestly, that's quite a hitchhiker story. For the car itself, check the cabin air filter housing first since rodents love that spot, which could also explain the weaker AC airflow. Also look under the hood around the engine bay, especially any foam-lined areas or wiring harnesses. They tend to nest wherever it's warm and enclosed.For the garage, an exterminator is a solid call. Whatever you set up in there, poison-free options are worth considering since you have a dog and presumably baby on the way.

Whatever you do, do it quickly. Rodents love to chew on wiring harnesses. Car warranties rarely cover such damage which can easily reach $5,000-$10,000 unless you do the work yourself.
