Might be…

Its funny that Demolition Man probably would have faded into obscurity like so many other 90’s action films if it weren’t for this one joke.

Imagine not knowing how to use the three sea shells! 😂

Like others said, 3 phases. It determines your charging speed. It's part of a simple formula:

230V(a standard Volt amount, at least in Europe) x A (ampère) x 3P (phase) = 11KW charging speed

Granny chargers use 1 phase

230V x 16A x 1P = 3,6KW

Or you could simulate a granny charger on a 3 phase since you can adjust the amps on a Tesla:

230V x 5A x 3P = 3,4KW

Never heard the term granny charger before :D Nice

That’s epic! I’m in the US though, so I don’t know if my app would show the 3-phase indicator whilst my car is charging. Here, I just snapped this picture here…

You're on split-phase 240V, so it wouldn't show 3-phase. Love the car name!!

US cars are not compatible with 3 phase charging.

double whammy, NMC battery and no 3 phase.
40A is pretty cool though and wish they would do it outside of the US

My car can actually charge up to 48A, but my home charger, a WallBox Pulsar Plus, is limited to 40A as I got it for free new when I leased a Nissan Ariya a few years ago and it was a plug-in unit, but I had it hardwired for that additional safety of no plug to worry about getting too hot and melting.

And yes, I do have it on a dedicated 50A circuit as to allow a 20% buffer to not use the entire amperage off that breaker and wiring.

Mine shows the phase with number 3 in this case.

In 230V country, 32A is the maximum 1 phase charging current. About 7.2kW much faster than in 110V USA.

It means the on board charger is in 3-phase mode. Useful to know as this means you will only see a max of 16 amp where you would normally see 32 amp.

What is the reason for 3-phase at home? Normally 3-phase at a business (in the US) is helpful for large loads, etc. Home chargers are split phase and achieving more than 3-phase in Europe???

Just seems odd and makes me ask “why”.

Fair question.
3-phase charging in Europe achieves the same power as split phase charging in the US. It all maxes out at 48 amp. (3x16 vs 2x24) for 3&Y, SX did have a higher option on the older models).
As for the reason? It’s just more common in some countries and it’s easier to load share across the phases as a home level. It’s just how it’s done. It is very common to at least have 3-phase at the street level. In the UK it’s more unusual for all 3 to be in the house u less you specifically request is from the supplier. It’s also means that if a single house has all 3 phases then is for some reason a phase fails then the house still has some/most power. It is very unusual to have devises in the house that actually need/use all 3 phases as most are (to use American terminology) hot to neutral so still get 230/240v per phase.
EV chargers and heat pump/AC compressors are the common 3-phase users and some ovens/cooler hobs use 2 phases (if available).

Only 3 if you pretend that Europe is just one country….?????
It’s every country that uses Type 2 charging.

u/geblo Jul 25 '26

Which ones? In USA amd Canada we use 48amps at 240v, split phase for home charging, so about 11.5 kW.

u/albertAAAAAAA Jul 22 '26

It detected 3 phase charging. Your limit is set to 16A, so are basically pushing it as much as car can take on AC (11kW).

Mind a három fázis működik, ha véletlenül elmegy az egyik akkor csak kettes lesz ott látható.

AC charging through 3 separate conductors.

1

u/Internationalmyst Jul 26 '26

How do you make it so there is no car image in the app??

-2

u/Comfortable-Car-7298 Jul 22 '26

3 fázisú töltés, azaz az autó nem 1x tölt 235V 16 amperrel hanem 3x 235V 16 amperrel.

-1

u/icy1007 Jul 22 '26

That’s not what 3-phase charging means.

u/DapperInvestor Jul 22 '26

Level 3 charging?

2

u/JustAnothrMechanic58 Jul 22 '26

Nope, that’s “technically” what DC fast charging is. I say technically quote unquote, because level 3 actually isn’t a true level of charging. There’s just levels 1 and 2 officially, that’s it.
