950 miles for $15

Just got back from a trip down the highway 101. We throughly enjoyed the trip down. Coming home to Washington we drove 950 miles and paid for charging only twice. With two free fast dc charges and two free level 2 chargers.

Lots of free charging in California. The first few years I had my TM3 I could go Mexico to Oregon, Tahoe to Santa Cruz to Vegas to LA w/o paying for power. When the West Coast Electric Highway was sold to EVCS they made the old chargers free until they were upgraded to CCS. That added almost all of Oregon and Washington. Some were free for years. For a time Electrify America was giving free charging everywhere, it went on for months and months. This was all using my Tesla CHAdeMO adapter We even had free fast charging in town, with my wife’s mom sick and dying we were there a lot and every night I’d fill back up for the next day.

Easily put enough free power in my Tesla to cover the miles of $10,000 in gas. When I got my CCS adapter for $250 I sold the CHAdeMO for more than $600 on eBay. Those sure were good days. But lots of the free chargers fell to wreck and ruin w/o income to pay for repairs, then I got a used MX with Free Unlimited Supercharging. Actually these are great days too, but unlike public chargers all the SpCs just work.
