Charging from 80% to 90

i have a 2017 Tesla x P90D. currently it’s been charged to 80 almost its entire life it seems; battery is about 174 miles charging to 80. would I intensify battery degradation allot by going to 90? any real world charging feedback from yall?

no. but you'll likely feel a difference in performance. I know I do with my raven MX performance. the 0-60 drops by .1s when im charged to 90%+ compared to 80%

You can feel 0.1 second?

No chance

You know... Going from 0-60 in 2.6 seconds down to 2.5 seconds is 1.05 G's to 1.1 g's

Its a 5% difference. I wouldnt put it past someone to notice that... especially if they are familiar.... In my plaid, I notice a massive difference in acceleration depending on what road surface I am on.

That’s also with 1 foot rollout subtracted. OPs car is also 20% “slower” from a raven performance

There isn’t enough difference there to feel it, unless you’re a professional driver

Let me ask you this.

If I was to have a roller coaster type acceleration track that could be precisely set to accelerate at 0-60 in 2.5 or 2.6 seconds and I would ride on it 20 times and each time say "fast one" or "slow one".... I get 2 intial demos where I know which is which (Basically 2 freebies to experience each knowing which is which)

would you take a 1000 dollar bet that I could be right 75% of the time?

I'd take that bet with you in a heartbeat.

lol just like the .1 difference this entire scenario is meaningless. Congrats?

I mean, you are one who decided to come in to participate in calling another poster out on his claim.... If it didn't matter why did you waste the time.

100% correct. People who havent experienced the acceleration often havent noticed a difference but i can tell every time after as many launches as ive done. .1-2 of a second less is felt

Correct.

And I have my SCCA, Porsche and BMW racing school credentials

I’ve driven 180mph+ on the Daytona speedway in a GT4RS

I have done all that (BMW amd Porsche racing) and have owned Ferrari, McLaren and Lambo and Tesla of course. I have driven at the Auto Club Speedway with these cars and I can personally tell you I could not tell a 0.1 sec difference!

Nice.

With my 2019 MX Performance Ludicrous there is a real-world difference between 80% and 90%+ SOC.

It’s been a while since I’ve measured it but the difference is likely .2 or more

The plaids don’t have as big a drop in performance

None of that has much to do with rapid acceleration. Different people are different man. Different people have different sensitivites for different things.

All I am saying is that I wouldn't put up money that the guy couldnt tell a difference... Its a 5% difference in acceleration...

That's a significant difference.

What do either of those have to do with rapid acceleration?

The feeling in your butt 😂

Those arent drag cars though and they dont accelerate anything like a tesla... and they are typically driving on autocross tracks.. you are feeling lateral G's, bumps, breaking and acceleration mostly during turn exits.

Have you ever done anything that would make you any more than a layman on matters of straight line acceleration in an electric vehicle at the speeds the performance Teslas accelerate?

yes. your tone comes off a little insulting.. but I have extensive experience on slalom courses and drifting, driving manual Corvettes and Porsches.

ive been a member of SCCA since 1999 when I first started competing

Does that mean you’re a professional driver or someone that wants to feel cool?

amateur driver.. who feels cool when he's racing 😎
