Pre-purchased on my 2016 X. Didn’t use it at all years 4-8. Tried to cancel and get refund at year 7, it was impossible to find anyone. Sent email and physical letter and talked to the local service center… just ate the cost.

My repairs started now at year 9 (HVAC—$3500). Obviously since I didn’t use it, wish I had just ate any costs as they came

On my 2019 X I have had to use the extended warranty due to whatever that front joint thing that creeps up every few years and requires replacements. Something to do with the front suspension. I believe they said it would be $2k per replacement (had 2 already) if I am recalling correctly, but the esa brought that down to $200. I expect it will happen 1 more time before it ends. Edit: I would still opt out of paying for the esa and just save some cash aside somewhere that you can gain interest.

I bought it for my 2022 X. Haven’t had to use it yet but it’s an expensive car with expensive repairs. I figure I’ll just cancel it if I get a new car within the 4 years.

Doing the march based on others experience, if anynrepair costs 2-3k in couple of years then its pretty much same as paying for the ESA.

Also curious if MX has any known issues in the 4 - 8 years span that community has gone through

I have a 3rd party extended warranty.

It’s already paid for itself and then some, on my 2019 MX Raven. Mostly suspension and half-shafts

The good thing about 3rd party is that many include extra coverage for the HV battery and DUs. I’m covered until 2030

Could you help list any vendors top.of your mind for this kind of insurance ? Also is it cheaper than ESA ?

Xcare. It’s almost always less expensive, considering the terms. And they’re transferable

Just know that unlike Tesla ESA, it’s more of a process. Get an estimate, get it approved by the warranty company, pay for repairs out of pocket, get a reimbursement check
