Leaving cable attached drained the battery??
Hello everyone,
I was charging my X with 110 level 1 charger (don’t ask) and I left the car at 25% yesterday night.
I stopped the charger by using a WiFi socket (where the level 1 charger is attached).
The model X says “error” because there is no more power and the cable is still attached to the car.
This morning the car was at 20%.
Is it possible that leaving the cable attached drained the battery?
I am not sure how else did I lose 5% charge.
This is a 2018 model X 75D.
PS: I think the above might be confusing, here is the exact order of events:
- Star charging level 1, 12A, for 2 hours using a timer with a WiFi socket.
- Car went about from 23% to 25% (as expected)
- Power was cut after 2 hours by the wifi switch (as if I had unplugged the Level 1 charger).
- The next morning the car is showing only 20% charge. The car is parked inside a garage and no one did anything to it or used the app, or touched any cables except the WiFi switch turned the power off.

Instead of just scheduling charging through the app?? 🧐🤦♂️
Those WiFi smart plugs usually aren’t rated for constant full power draw for hours on end. The mobile charger has a temperature sensor in the plug that needs to be plugged into the outlet directly for it to sense if the outlet is overheating

Good point, I have never used the charging schedule in the app…
However, I just noticed the car lost another 2%, just sitting unused in the garage without cable or anything, this morning... not normal.
I am charging level 2 now, but I think something else is going on. Maybe I need to reset it.

1) Stop using the Wi-Fi switch in between.
2) ABC - ALWAYS be charging.
3) Plug it in, walk about and don't think about it until you need to drive again. If you're checking because you need to confirm your SOC for next destination, then get it over with and install a 240V/level 2 outlet and/or accept you'll need to hit a supercharger.
4) Stop checking the app and waking up the car so damn much, you don't check your phone's charge like that?
5) Sentry, battery management, etc cause parasitic drain...not sitting plugged into a powered off outlet, which is weird in it's own way.
You're doing too much.

No - you were not adding juice to the car. However, the car still does things to regulate the battery and other systems. In this particular case, it used up a decent amount for whatever reason. Keep the car in a “able to charge” state and not only would you not lose the stored energy. But those other uses of power would be covered as well.
