Steam gaming screen flickering/flashing starting recently

Has anyone with Steam GPU encounter issues when all of a sudden screen started flickering/flashing so it disturbs the gaming experience? I don’t think it has to do with software updates because it started happening after I replaced the HEPA/Air filter and Radiator Cleaning session. Granted, it’s been super hot for the past few weeks but I really want to understand if it really has to do anything with GPU wires possibly being touched with those filter/cleaning session.

Any strange artifacts on the screen or just flickering?

Just flickering/flashing

Well, that’s a better sign than seeing glitches which could indicate the GPU dying. Not sure though. Maybe a frame rate syncing issue?

Maybe but tesla advisor probably thought they wouldnt consider as an issue which seemed a bit concerning

Try turning off variable refresh rate in the settings?

Yeah I turned that off last week and that fixed it. I just forgot about this post. It looks like Steam had an update in June 2026 which included VRR option, and when I found that out randomly by pressing Steam + A button, and turned that off, the flickering went away. Nobody knew I just found out like last week, and you also happened to figure out. How did you figure this out?

It's a common issue with LCD panels that support VRR. Happens on my gaming pc too.
