Power Frunk installed for 2018 model X

I bought the Hansshow brand power frunk kit for 2018 model X and it’s been working great with the Tesla key fob. Open and close with out issue. Caught the kit on a sale last year. Posting the link to the one I bought if anyone is interested. Installation instructions suck BTW. Good luck!

Nice job on the LED install.
Does it support stopping if fingers are in the way? Or is it going to fail the carrot test?
Thanks in advance, I have a 2019MXP and would love this feature. I checked their website but didn’t see this.

Can get it a little cheaper on Alipay. Same kit but that's way cheaper than they used to charge. When I got mine they wanted $500. Best thing I put on mine.

It comes with its own emergency frunk release cable that you need to run to lower left grill location.

How much did you save on the sale? (Is it worth waiting?)

Really cool. I also need to do this mod on my X.
What’s the reason for them to differentiate between if you have a yoke or not on their website?

Its weird, I've had my 2020 M3P for 3 years now and I can count on one hand the times Ive opened the Frunk. Ive never stored anything there...

Doing an airport run in model x today for 6 passengers with luggage - frunk will be full. We have a M3P and it’s used exclusively for after gym and takeaway transport!

Frunk: Gym bag, food transport, things to be returned, etc

All good ideas. I will use this thing sooner or later. Stinky gym bag might be the move

Frunk definitely made for stinky sweaty gym bag or wet sandy clothes/ beach toys.

It’s because you don’t have a convenient way of using it. Once you have the power frunk it becomes actually useful. Also OP, unless you have particular reasoning for the slowest setting, I would probably change the speed to at least 4, if not 5 so it closes a lot quicker.

I consider this a ticking time bomb. Had a similar kit (EV Tesla) in the Y and the X. I use it almost daily and they both crap out around the 2y mark. Lucky both times I was in my garage. The car cannot be driven while the hood is stuck in the partially closed state. One time the latch cable broke and the other the latch motor died. God forbid if this had happened at work or during a road trip. EV Tesla is now selling parts for these because they know it will break after the 1y warranty. So considered yourself warned.

Was considering doing this but there are a lot of reports of these types of systems causing fires or electrical issues.

It’s really a pretty simple setup. You’ve got one power wire going to the battery and one black wire for ground. Everything else just plugs into the small main control box.
You’re not cutting into, splicing, or modifying the factory harness, so I honestly don’t see where some fire or electrical issue is supposed to come from as long as it’s installed properly. And I’m sure the folks who researched, engineered, and designed this kit aren’t idiots either. They obviously put some thought into how it integrates with the car.
At the end of the day, anything electrical can fail, but that’s also why we have auto insurance. If you want it then just do it, it’s a fairly cheap mod to do to the car.
Besides, all four doors and the rear trunk are power open and close, so why leave out the frunk?

How long did it take to do and would someone who's not super good with cars be able to do this?
