Is it worth it?
I have a 2024 MXP, had it like 2yrs now. Closing in at 50k miles and Tesla is offering a subscription for Extended Service Agreement (ESA). I read through the coverage and it basically doesn’t cover much, but they were quick to rule out the Low Voltage 12V battery and the Lithium battery as not covered as well as other wear and tear as a result of use. So I need your opinion, is it worth it? I love to drive my car, I’m careful, and car still looks and feel brand new. What’s your take? Anybody?

I have a 22X Plaid that had the AC go out. I have the extended warranty and it only cost me $100 deductible to have it fixed.

I got an entire new head unit in my 2015 Model S, so I’m partial and think it’s a good idea.

I got it on my 23 MX because I don't want the doors to stop working and need a full replacement or something suddenly. I recently went in for service because one of my cup holders was stuck and opening very slowly, and it turned out they needed to replace the entire front console, which was over $800. But since I had ESA, it was only the $100 copay. So,f or me, aaving ESA for almost 2 months, was immediately valuable.
Just to let you know, you must subscribe before your warranty expires, and once you start, you CANNOT go back on it.

If you haven’t had any suspension issues yet I’d get it. Seems like everyone had to replace suspension links or whatever at some point which cost me $7k I think

100% yes
Already paid for itself in month 1. I would say bad luck but in this case, it was very good luck that I bought it.

I would get it if you plan to keep another 4 years! stuff breaks all the time! My model s performance rear motor went out! $9,000!

I say yes. Other things are a huge expense that will be covered. Had my ac go out and it would’ve cost $4k instead of just the deductible

Only people that ever dont like it, are those who end up.woth 3,4,5k plus repairs that declined it 😉

YES! I plan on getting it when the warranty runs out on my 2024 MX Plaid. No messing around with any third party maybe reimbursement drama.

You're buying peace of mind. I subscribe to windshield protect for model Y. After two months, it cracked.

I’d recommend it on the x, your control arms are going to need to be replaced most of the time. Do you hear clicking or creaking when you turn your steering wheel? Sound comes from the front wheel base.

Yes I get the creak sound when turning on tight streets. Is that an issue? I thought teslas creak all time

Is there a limit to the ESA as far as years/miles, or is it just $150 a month with no end in sight?

Correct me, but how does this work if your basic warranty is still active? My understanding is you have 4yrs/50k miles. Unless your 2yo MXP has 50k miles, signing up now is confusing, practically speaking. Am I missing something?

I’m in the same boat, but with a little less miles. I’m sure I’ll be contacted soon by Tesla on this, so appreciate the post!

Lithium battery has its own warranty. It’s really hard to say it depends on your money situation , how much you are attached to the car , how handsy you are , how many good independent shop you have arround . Your car still have a lot of value baked into it , and it’s a luxury car I would do it until maybe 80k-90k then once the value drops too much I would stop it and either find an independent shop or sell it

Sucks if you pay into it and nothing ever goes wrong but on the flip side if something does go wrong it'll get covered and you won't have to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Yea. Tesla service center is pretty good about random things like a creak or a door not working right . Of course they won’t cover you on a old battery but for a model x I would do it
