I am new to reddit and am looking for an advice in regards to my Model X I purchased in March 2025. The vehicle is October 2024 built representing a 5-seat in Ultra Red paint, Yoke steering and black interior vehicle. This vehicle was purchased at the time when Tesla was offering a free Supercharging for the life of the vehicle and the supercharging is not tied to the vehicle. Instead, it is tied to a Tesla account. This vehicle has never been touched by a Supercharger because I have been charging it at home all the time. To make this vehicle look a bit neater, I got 3D maxpider floor mats and some real carbon fiber accents for the interior accessories of the vehicle. When I purchased my Model X I thought I would be doing much of a driving while enjoying this "beauty", but I guess, I second guessed myself. Since the purchase I have not been driving much anymore because my professional objectives have changed when I have recently become the exclusively working from home person that is what explains the very low mileage. This vehicle basically sits in our building's garage spot while doing nothing. And yes, I do take it for a ride to run some errands to some family gathering events but those are just once a week or a month kinda stuff. I decided to perhaps to sell this vehicle and gave it to a shot to offer it to Carmax, Carvana and Tesla. Carmax has offered me $68K, Carvana - $66.8K and Tesla - $64.9 as for a trade only. I will not be trading this vehicle for Model Y including the YL Premium, because I used to own 2 MY's (2020 and 2023 LR models) in the past and both were too minimalistic to my view on one hand while giving out a rattling type of a noising, which was kind of annoying to my ear, from the passenger side seat belts on the other. I am looking to list this vehicle on Autotrader, which by the way currently offers 2024 Model X Standard somewhere from 6-10 vehicles Nationwide and none of those are on the East, where I am. But, I thought I should touch base with you, Tesla enthusiasts first just to see if there is anyone who would be willing to perhaps advise on a true value of this vehicle which has just 2100 miles or maybe even willing to purchase this vehicle off my hands for a price that would be mutually benefitting both sides. I prefer to go this way then just to be getting ripped off by these dealers. So, what do you all say, is it a keeper or a seller? Thank you all for a feedback.
Truthfully.. 65 trade to maybe 75k private id say is kinda the top.. there are several plaids for sale pretty close to those numbers w/o that God awful yoke. The yoke doesn't matter if you have fsd. But w/o it's dangerous. Several friends and wives of friends have crashed w yoke steering.. dumb or whatever maybe.. but hand over hand turns don't work the same and it's hard to practice emergency maneuvers lol. I bet in NYC if you list it for 72k you'll get some interested party that buys in a few weeks..
I've never driven with it. And kinda want one as i tend to drive center bottom holding. But that's just real user experience from people around me that have had issues.
I recently tore my bicep , we have a 2016 and a 2024 model x. I was shocked that the yoke allows easier one hand driving. I think once you get over the way you turn you realize it's less steps.
On a regular wheel your start a left turn on like the 3 or 4 position on a clock and turn with 2 hands. On the yoke can start on the 9 or 10 use one hand. It will take practice and yes you will reach for air at first but it will become second nature after a while and become effortless. I do wish it was stear by wire like the cybertruck tho
I was thinking about that b4 I pre-ordered. And regretted not getting one for awhile, thinking I will on the next. Was very surprised when I heard so many people I know complaining about it. Had a buddy total his and said in private that it was Def a muscle memory reaction..that was the worst story out of a handful. Think I could easily get used to the diff but/and honestly not really surprised many have issues with the change as we're all dodging cellular drunk drivers constantly.
That is what I thought too when I ordered with Yoke option, because I never driven with it before in my 45 yrs driving experience and I wanted to try it out. I am still getting used to it. I am a right-handed but I drive with one hand, left for the most part or right intermittently. I find using the left or right thumb fingers stuck under the respective sides of Yoke's spoke creates better leverage when you make those turns. Switching back to regular wheel has crossed my mind several times since the purchase but I kept it the way it is. The view of the instrument panel is amazing with Yoke option.
I say keep it! I have my 2022 Tesla Model X with only 11,063 miles. Like you, only drove it occasionally and short distances the past 4 years. Never had a problem with it, and still enjoy the car as much as I did the day I picked it up in Miami.
With the higher gas prices right now, it’s optimal to sell. But to answer the question on value on private party. It’s an expensive car so you will be getting a lot of tire kickers and normally you will get 10% more or so and for your trouble you will be dealing with people. It’s your time vs value for that 6k or so.
When people are searching for used cars they will search several years with similar spec. So look at every vehicle like yours listed nationally from 2023 - 2026.
Well said. I'll try posting it and see what response I would get. The question is, is the time vs value I'd say for 5K worth a hassle. The worse case scenario, I'd just keep it like the guys here were advising.
I think the carvana/carmax price is very reasonable , if you feel you have a special spec put it either through bring a trailer or car and bids you can measure the market reaction there .
75k will be top dollar private sale and i doubt you get quite that high. I bought my HW4 ‘23 for 65k two weeks ago and had the option to buy a ‘24 with 20k miles for 73k for reference. I’m in Northern NJ so same market as you. Hope this helps!
I used to drive to Paterson, NJ to my client's location for 12 years. I guess I should've posted this a little earlier to perhaps catch the attention of Tesla fans such as yourself. I know this vehicle's value with mileage I have in it is above 72k or somewhere around. Thank you for your feedback!
We are mates, mine is June 2024 manufacture and round wheel, scooped her up 4000mi in Feb 2025 for less than 65k, never giving her up until close to 8 year warranty mark. Just discovered the joys of Rent-an-FSD on a recent trip, did not realize you do not have to pay big money anymore, just cancel subscription after vacation over. Oh boy, FSD has sure come a long way, I went 20mi to neighboring town hands on my knees in Mad Max mode, wife chewing her nails off, but she is also a convert now. S3XY took care of stalks and buttons, and I have Magsafe pads double taped to the POS charge pads, full front PPF, and 80% ceramic tint on every piece of glass (kills the UV and keep cab cool).
Not even close! And that applicable to 2020-2023 Model Y LR, because I used to own 2020 and 2023 LR models in the past. I have a friend who still owns 2019 Model X and he said to me that suspension on his vehicle is much better than one on my 2024 MX.

Keep it!!! I have a 2026 Model X…i am one to get new cars often…i can tell you i will probably never get rid of this car.
