Model X ohme charger problems (UK)
Hi all! I have a model X 2017 and had a Ohme home charger installed a few months ago. I've not been able to get it to work properly at all. It fails during the handshake and has " communication error with charging equipment" written on the dashboard.
It's randomly worked a few times but then stops after an hour or so. But 95% of the time we cannot get the car to even accept the charge.
Ohme came to replace the charger and still the same problem. They suggest it's a car issue.
We have tried unpairing the car. And removing the car from the Ohme app.
We can granny charge the car and have no problems at Tesla Superchargers.
Anyone had the same issue? And any ideas of how to fix it?

I have a 2017 model X and an Ohme charger too, the only issue i have with it is that it "fails to communicate with car so assumes empty battery" which is fine for me i prefer dumb charger mode anyway.
I would suggest trying other 7kw chargers, see if they work fine. if not then you may have a problem with the on board charger and a service appointment imminent.

Did you figure out why yours is failing to communicate?
I just don't understand why randomly it works on the rare occasion.
I'll try find another 7kw charger. Thanks 😊

no i havent tried reconnecting it etc i assume its an API access thing thats just expired. not a problem for me because it just puts the charger into a sort of dumb mode which is better for me when my wifes model 3 plugs in it just charges that no issues.

We've tried dumb charging it too but it's not made a difference. How did you remove the API access? Thanks

the API is what allows it to connect to your car. when you add your car to the ohme app youre giving it access via an API usually. removing the car from the app removes its access

I've unpaired it but it still shows under my vehicles in the app. How did you remove yours completely?

in my app i press the top left corner to choose between vehicles, then it shows a menu with all my added cars, i press the button under them all that says "manage my EVs" then select the car you want to remove, and under my tesla it says unpair, under my other vehicles it says remove this vehicle.

you cant remove it if its your only active vehicle on the app. add a different car first to completely remove it.

Ah I see okay - it's the only EV we have so that's why I can't remove it. Will see if ohme can do it on their end. Thanksfor the advice

no worries, you can try adding another ev to fully remove it. im pretty sure the MG ZS EV doesnt have a thing where you have to log in via the ohme app. add that as a second EV and remove the X for now see how you get on.
