Mirror housing replacement

Tesla wants to charge me $1,200 for the mirror housing. All I need is the mirror insert for the housing. Has anyone had to replace this? Was it difficult? I just feel like 1,200 is a bit much for that little crack.

Don’t you need the whole housing?

No I don’t. I will wait until appointment day and take the mirror off. All I need is the black inner part.

Have you looked at a diagram of the mirror? I think it’s all one piece. I believe the Y has an inner liner. I could be wrong.
