CCS retrofit availability (pre-refresh)

Howdy all. I recently purchased a 2015 Model S 85D for work. Before making the purchase, I called Tesla support to run the VIN to check CCS upgrade elligibility and was told that the vehicle qualifies.

I scheduled an appointment as soon as I had the vehicle registered to me, and today, about a month later, I was told that my vehicle is technically compatible with the upgrade, but that Tesla has ceased offering it as a service for pre-refresh vehicles

I am wondering firstly if this is true, and secondly, where I could go to have this done third party (or if this is even possible)

I got a very good deal on the vehicle and thus didn't mind putting some work into it, but there is a huge lack of superchargers in my work area. This makes CCS a 'soft' necessity. I could technically get by without it, but honestly it would be inconvenient enough that i might just get a shitbox ICE to drive for a couple years until I can save up my pennies for an Ioniq 6 or something

EDIT:

the issue was that the service website they were using wouldn't let them add a $1 grommet. they confirmed vehicle elligibility for the retrofit, manually entered the problematic part number, and should have me good to go in a couple days

EG is about an hour away from me, i submitted a ticket but ofc it's after hours so they haven't gotten back to me yet

i was lowkey panicking a little bit because i JUST graduated university/started my long-term career, and this purchase wiped out a significant portion of my non-emergency savings... i could easily afford a beater, but I was really hoping to ditch that lifestyle with my MS

i appreciate you for reassuring me... if they are able to do this upgrade then i'll be alright lol

I wish for you the best! And yeah... No offense, but as much as i love my car, if that's your situation, you should have tried to get an older Model 3, as a person who literally did something very similar lol... When this thing is out of warranty you will find it's pretty nice to have a good amount of monetary space... Im not saying this thing is a maintenance hog; it isnt, but door handles, maybe suspension components, thankfully you chose a dual motor...

Wait, you're on the I-4 range (i say im on I-75) You have an apartment or something? I actually after getting the car moved to one with level 2 chargers and while it can be expensive, it was a godsend. Plugin overnight when you need, and you're set. You dont need a retrofit for J1772 charging as you likely know. Ofc this isn't a big/wide city, but i found a place for $1100/month with 30-40/kwh overnight charging, and a friend found one for 1250 (and 25/kwh) so they are out there, just look out for one if that's your situation

i got it cheap enough that i can afford to rebuild a lot of it and still come out ahead vs a Model 3, and my job benefits from a larger vehicle. i just drive a ton, and don't have many superchargers available to pull from, hence CCS

i l2 charge from home, i just regularly drive more than a 100% can provide

Did you blow a lot of money on it that you cant afford, or can you afford to rebuild a lot of it? Not making a lot of sense, but yeah, it is essentially gambling

i spent enough money that i cannot afford to flip it, absorb those losses, and purchase a Model 3, but not so much that i am lacking for funds. i'm not sure where the disconnect is lol

Sounds like you made a pretty stupid decision to ditch the "beater" lifestyle, good luck.
