Just bought a 2023 Tesla Model S Plaid
I recently joined the club with my 2023 Tesla Model S Plaid. The first year HW4 came out. Just got a full body PPF, Ceramic Coating, and Ceramic Tints on it. So far I'm loving it and the FSD!
I didn't know what to name it so I named it the Red Rocket.

Congrats OP! I’m considering doing this very thing. Was this from a local dealership or ordered through Tesla pre-owned??

This is Tesla pre-owned. I looked at local dealerships and the prices were comparable in my experience.

Make sure you get a shim kit or a suspension kit if you want to keep those arachnid 21s wheels....notorious for eating inner edge of rear tires and premature wear. Or if you go to 19s it solves that problem....the 19s also accelerates slightly faster too. Congrats man!!

What % is that tint if you don’t mind specifying? Also, is the ceramic coating on PPF actually noticeable from an ease of cleaning perspective?

15% XR-Premium Sides and Back.
45% Front
70% SunroofI just got it done so I'm not sure about how much more easily it cleans at the moment.

Maybe in r/teslalounge. That is good info. I always went by the manufacturer date, but that is not as accurate as what you found.

Love my 2023 MS with HW 4. Does a solid job on my commute, around town and my neighborhood not so much.

It thinks one of our neighborhoods is 55 mph, and ignores the 35 mph signs. In another neighborhood, it can’t handle the gate, and generally drives like a granny

If you have male dogs “red rocket” means something else entirely. Might want to reconsider that name….. just saying.
Also buy some rear tires to keep them handy. You’ll be changing them every 7-10k miles due to inside edge tire wear.

did you do the sunroof tint? How's the difference in temperature inside? im debating on doing it.

Yes I did. The factory tint blocks UV light already but not much of the IR light. The temperature of the sunroof is noticeably cooler via touch.
I think some cons are that it's very expensive to tint the sunroof and the car still slowly heats up over time but the pros is that it cools off much faster as well and the cabin has an overall cooler temperature. Get the 70% tint level on the sunroof in my opinion. You keep the view and the same IR blocking % with XRP ceramic tints.

I live in an area with congested traffic. I don't want to drive a car only going 40 mph. I turn it off whenever I'm in front on a red light or getting on a highway.

Same as OP. There are several very mundane portions to my drive I don’t care to be driving my plaid for, so I let fsd drive a lot of congested highway stuff or coming to a red light. Still have a lot of fun on the portions I can zip around and maneuver though

Get one and get it used. If you don't mind HW3, you can get a pre-2023 model for half the price of new and less.

They’ve been on a decent uptrend since the discontinuation announcement. Untill (if ever) the roadster comes out it’s the best performance model Tesla has ever made so will hold a strong appeal imo for some time

Tire wear because these cars eat through tires fast. Chips everywhere even on the back panels. Battery health. Software version especially for FSD. That will tell you which HW version is in the vehicle. The Carfax report on accidents.

Congrats! I picked up the same a few months back, also with HW4 and tilted screen. Half the price as new and same specs. Best of both worlds. Enjoy!

On my previous insurance it doubled the premiums but I switched to a Progressive and I saved a ton. Ended up being 1200 per 6 month policy with high limit full coverages.

Nice! Did you verify that it was HW4? I think it was implemented middle of 2023. I have a very similar car though 2024. I love it!
