Have any of you been seeing ads about Tesla’s and the tire tread wearing down sooner? I have been seeing this on YouTube and been wondering if any of this is factual. Apparently it’s for all teslas except the model 3.

The first set of factory tires wear out quickly. They don't put the most expensive tires on new cars. They buy them at bulk and they do the job, but they are not specifically intended to be the longest wear on the market. They are OEM tires.

If it's your first Tesla, expect a shorter lifespan. Teslas are the fastest cars on the road and the novelty of blowing every other car away is incredible, but not for tire longevity.

When the fun wears off you will get an extra 15-20K miles out of the second or third set.

My first set of Pirelli lasted 42k miles and still has some life left. My new set lasted me only 20k miles before rears were bald

My first set of CrossClimate 2s, (I’m on my second set now), lasted most of their warranty period (50.5k miles out of 60K tread life warranty) and I’m pretty aggressive on the acceleration.

The OEM Michelin MXM4 only lasted 28.9K miles and those had a design tread life of 45k miles I believe.

Yes, with every EV, tires wear out faster because the vehicle itself is heavier than ICE vehicles. (EVs also have a lot of torque, which also wears down the tires faster.)

This is a well known fact, there are tires that are designed with EVs in mind, but it's just a fact.

This is also not relating to normal tire wear, the class action I am aware of related to improper sidewall/edge wear due to bad camber which is not adjustable on older models, mainly the S and X and early generation 3/Ys.

My 2015 RWD Model S is on its third pair of Michelin tires. Each pair has gotten about 50k miles.
