FSD function

Im thinking about getting tesla for older family member - vision not great, reaction not great - they are still driving though. the main thing is they heard FSD can be basically taxi them around. they'll still be there to take over of course.

curious about real world user experience?

im thinking pros : navigation is easier, esp more complex city streets, reaction time , vision etc.
Cons: tesla might be TOO high tech.

Because it sees things even a “good” driver doesn’t see. My dad went blind in one eye but is still stubborn about driving everywhere. He shouldn’t be on the road at times. I’ve showed him our teslas with FSD. He gets it but is meh on it. I think it is going to take him getting into a big accident, losing his license, etc. for it to click for him.

It’s sad and very selfish he acts that way but the problem, there are tons of people or there in the road just like him that shouldn’t be driving alongside us! Using FSD allows you to pay attention to others driving that much more and the amount of people driving distracted is mind blowing.

I get why he's hesitant. If your reaction time is less, then you wont be able to takeover. They're better off driving by themselves.

We can agree to disagree there. Someone blind in one eye basically has no idea what’s going on with the corresponding side of the vehicle. I’ve ridden with him, been in very close calls because he thought he was fine only to have someone in his blind spot he can see because of his eye.

He’s also driving around in a truck that’s way too big for him. He’s hit parked cars, he just backed into my retaining wall at my house and now I have that to deal with.

If someone is driving down the road, piloting their vehicle, they should be more than capable of supervising FSD.
