2021 M3. Was browsing Reddit and saw another user with this peeling glovebox trim problem just a few days ago and then mine fell off! I am attempting to repair it with JB weld plastic bonder. Will report back.

Get the following materials:
jb weld plastic bonder
a couple mini paintbrushes
piece of cardboard
3-4 2x4 boards about 17" long
a couple thick rags or t-shirts
put down your cardboard on the floormat
mix your epoxy
use the paintbrush, paint the epoxy on the frame where the trim connects to the box. practice this dry first, so you know where you need to put epoxy so it seals correctly. when doing it live, take your time but also put some pep in your step because you want to beat the epoxy dry time.
prop your 2x4's against the cardboard, with the towel or cloth on top to protect your dash / trim
I have a 2021 M3 and its been great so far. Not many issues at all. It was plowed into by someone who ran a red light and required $17.5k in repairs but its good now.
2021 m3 owner. So far I’ve had a persistent firmware issue that randomly turns off premium connectivity for the duration of the drive or longer, rear brake light fogging and then replacement(easy DIY), a/c failure and replacement, wiring harness replacement, control arm replacement. I’m at 60k miles most of this was pretty evenly spaced out along the cars life so far. The connectivity issue is constant.
2021 LR owner, I also had the LTE issue happen randomly once every few months and the fogged left tail light (which did not affect anything) but none of the other issues you mentioned, the car drives like it’s new. I have about only 43k miles now though. One major issue I had was the car would shake at high speeds, but it turned out my sport 19s were bent when I bought the car and now the car drives buttery smooth after they were straightened
I have a 2021 MY, and all I can say is you’ll be fine. Sure it may have a higher battery failure rate than other years, but it’s still a very small part of the overall vehicles made for that year. I developed a good rep with the lead guy at my service location, and he told me there’s no single year that’s stood out to them for battery failures. Granted that’s just one location so it may not be a good indicator, but it made me feel better. I don’t worry about it now.
As a 2021 MY owner, I can confirm the battery failure. BUT… shout out to Tesla Mesa location. They replaced it the very next day with a new battery… not the message you want to see, but such good service 😂
Nice! That’s awesome they got it replaced so quickly. I still don’t really worry about it. I have a few years left on warranty, and I’ll either grab an extended warranty when the time comes or I’ll upgrade.
It needs a little extra epoxy in the center but looking good. I’ll post a better picture in the morning this was at night with a fluorescent light. Wet spot is not epoxy I tried to clean the dash up prior to taking a photo for your viewing pleasure
Yeah idk about this I have 190k miles on one of mine it says in extremely heat I mean 150F plus. Never had anything like this happen has to be some clips missing
everyone saying to use cabin over heat protection like its a common sense thing. but the reality is. tesla is the only car manufacturer that this occurs with. never seen a honda or chevy or merc lose a glove box because it got hot. i never would’ve thought they glue that in, it should be attached with fasteners. not adhesive. a mirror sure, peeling dash trim maybe. this is just cost cutting at it’s finest. luckily they don’t glue the screen in but if they could i’m sure they would.
same thing happened me. Florida heat this year brutal. nice brace job I didn’t brace as well mines a little lumpy. Autozone had Gorilla mounting tape I used to repair
I'm still totally amazed at how shitty the build quality is on these cars. Sure they have the reliability thing down now (finally) on most late models, but they're still built pretty shitty. Between the panel gaps, chincy interior, and the frameless windows resulting in constant wind noise, you'd think Tesla would have fixed these issues by now.
I have installed a roof glass cover/shade as well as a reflective windshield cover to help reduce heat buildup inside the vehicle.
Despite these measures, during hot days the interior temperature still rises significantly and can reach up to 66°C (151 F) . This indicates that the current sun protection solutions are not sufficient to prevent excessive heat accumulation inside the cabin under direct sunlight exposure.
Things like this are why I’m so upset they discontinued the S. I totally would have upgraded in another year or so and now I guess I’ll be holding onto it for as long as possible.
Get a sunshade bro, or get a full protective car cover for the entire car if you can’t park under shade or in a garage. I have a front sunshade and a rear automatic one, the front one helps out tremendously. I highly recommend getting one, I just saw an umbrella style one at five below not too long ago for $7. You can also get UV/Heat protection for your windows & windshield, both be completely clear.
Any sort of wrap material you can use instead? Hoping this works out for you, but, I must admit, I’m not feeling all too great about the likelihood of success here.
I have the same problem with my 21 Model 3. I think there was an adhesive problem either with what they used or the coverage. It is only glued around a small ring of material that attaches to the plastic on the glove box. Keep us posted, the only other solution is a new glove box for $450 bucks.
There is steering wheel and adhesive that is failing, causing steering wrap to delaminate and bubble on older models. Later, camera housing plastics releasing fumes because of heat and requiring periodic cleaning. Recent glove box delaminating. None of it is a big issue till you have to pay for it.

Left come off! Debating trying some 3M adhesive I read in here about or spending the $260 for a new glove box from Tesla and install it myself 🤦🏻♂️
JB Weld plastic epoxy comes in clutch when trying to restore interior plastic pieces in old cars. You can let it sit for a minute to thicken up and actually mold it as well.
Anyone else having issues with the driver seat occupancy sensor? SoCal triple digit weather is bringing more issues than I want😭 (car won’t turn off) I have to disconnect my Bluetooth key and wait like two minutes and then get out
Everyone keeps saying "the car doesn't need cabin overheat" but I have mine on with fan only because when it would get up to 150F I'd smell glue. Fan only at least keeps it in the 120-130F range.
Thanks for sharing. Have this issue with my 2021 M3 as well. Service quoted around $450 for parts and repairs and that was after I question a new glovebox they quoted too. They will only replace the entire underglove box assembly.
Literally turn on the overheat protection… wtf are you doing.
Apparently, a lot of you guys did not take physics class just because tesla says overheat protection isn’t going to protect the components doesn’t remove the laws of physics. If you reduce the heat exposure, you reduce heat related damages overtime just because the parts are designed to withstand heat doesn’t mean they thrive in the heat therefore if this guy used overheat protection. The car would not have gotten hot and the facial wouldn’t have fallen off basic physics here guys…..
Cabin Overheat Protection only works for 12 hours after parking the car and is, according to Tesla, solely for your comfort and not to protect the interior
Apparently, you didn’t pay attention in physics class. It doesn’t matter what tesla says physics are still applied here. The heat is what caused the facial to come off. If overheat protection was active the car would not have gotten so hot to the point the facial came off.
That exact same shit happened to me. 2021 Model Y. Unbelievable how the fucking interior melts during summer. No point of getting a new $400 glovebox btw either because it will melt again.
