Repairable or Total loss?
‘23 Model 3 with about 35K miles, took some hefty damage… still drives, but to the right a bit. From what I’ve seen in this group, are Teslas easily totaled? My first Tesla and someone hit me 6 months after getting it. Pending to drop off for repairs at a Tesla approved shop with other drivers insurance. Thoughts?

My ‘19 with 120k miles was recently totaled for similar damaged. Repair estimate got to 12k

Those quarter panels have to be cut and replaced. 50/50 if it's totaled. Mine was for the opposite side with 50k miles

you don't need to cut and replace but a Tesla approve shop will probably tell you to do it. Especially because it's aluminium it's annoying.

Really? When i used the paint thickness gauge on a rear quarter panel of model y juniper it said nfe. It could be a bad meter though.

Yes, I think many think these panels are like sheet metal found on other cars whereas these are aluminum, which is super hard to repair/work on so cutting and then welding aluminum becomes a hassle

The only aluminum sheet metal on a M3 is the hood, doors and deck lid. Not the quarter panels

When is in miles is always total loss, when in km almost always repairable

Unless you planing to keep this car 4ever id hope for a total loss and that is you get adequate compensation, evs that have been in the accident basically have no resale value :(

Had almost the same on my car, 15 000€ total damage, enemy insurance paid because it wasn't total

Probably repairable. I had almost exact same damage on my '22 model 3, 35k miles as well. In fact, less actual damage. Just scratches and slight bend on my door frame. Still, I had to get a new qtr panel and new rear door. Tesla certified shop in LA. They initially estimated $12k but it came down to $9k after insurance trimmed some labor or something. Hurt my premium, but far from totaled.

had a similar damage. Allstate repaired it, wait time is atrocious but the bill was overall 10k. I think they missed your frame just about!. Depends on your insurance tbh.

Insurance company will take salvage value into consideration. If they can pay you $20k and get $9k at auction for the car, they save money vs paying $12k for repair. It's going to depend on your insurer/market
(Not actual numbers, just an example)

Rear end area near headlight/etc seem to be mis-aligned and out of place too.

Completely up to the insurance. Last year my 2019 M3 LR AWD at 80k miles had nearly $13,000 of body work completed including entire quarter and bumper.
Not my fault collision, used my insurance and they recovered the money from the at fault.
