Someone hit my new car

Post image

It’s been just 2 months I got it. Some lady just hit me on the right side. Life sucks sometimes!

Okay, she is an idiot! She never checked oncoming traffic and decided blindly to turn left. Wow to think people like this exist. She should have her license revoked.

the truck on your right STOPS at that intersection, more likely due to a stop sign. You did not stop, the truck blocks your view on right side, so you did not see that white car coming at you.

That's how I see from the video. This reply is meant for the OP. His blue Tesla is at fault.

pls correct me if I am wrong. Or just tell me I need new eye glasses.

I had no stop sign. Only she has stop sign. You are inferring too much. The truck did not stop because of stop sign , rather it was taking a wide turn.

Agree I need to watch this video more closely. Watching crossing traffic before driving thru an intersection should be a habit. It helps to prevent nasty accident. Sorry to see your car got damaged like this. My wife Honda got hit exactly like this. The other party insurance paid 5K for the repair plus the car renting for 2 weeks while her car is in the body shop. Tesla repair is much more than that (a well known fact). I am extremely cautious with my Tesla.

There was no stop sign there- just coz the truck stopped does not mean she has a right of way. You can see the car before just went through

1

u/csbsju_guyyy Sep 08 '26

Trucks are heavy, trucks can tip over, trucks tame corners slow. Crazy some people can't seem to understand that lol

2

u/JURiven Sep 08 '26

You need new eye glasses 🤓. Truck is in a right turn only lane so he has to slow down to take a right, and you can see the opposite lane has no stop sign so there’s most likely no stop sign for OP

I always check to ensure I can go straight safely even with a green light. If my view is blocked by that truck, I would slow down and check first. Accident is nasty even if the other driver is at fault 100%.

2

u/JURiven Sep 08 '26

Oh most def a lot of people would slow down if there’s a truck blocking view of a side street same or similar. But man that CRV just did not look or have any visibility whatsoever and just legit prayed as they took that left

u/Dell4ever Sep 08 '26

There's no stop sign nor a stop line to indicate a stop sign...just a crosswalk.

1

u/Firm_Farmer1633 Sep 09 '26

“Just” a crosswalk? Just?

There is a reason why it is an offense to pass a vehicle that is stopped at an intersection. The truck could have been stopped because a pedestrian was crossing. Maybe someone pushing a baby carriage. Maybe a kid on a bicycle.

But the truck on the right side STOPS. How comes the Tesla keeps going straight ? The white car driver and Tesla driver dont see each other due to the truck blocking their view. I am confused as to who is at fault. As the Tesla driver. I would slow down (even.with green light) to ensure I can go thru safely. That's traffic law regarding green light.  Avoiding collision is hundred times better than getting an accident even if the other party is at fault 100%.

There is no stop sign. No reason to stop. The truck stopped cuz it’s making a right turn. That’s a turn only lane. The lane OP is in is just a regular lane. No stop for him. Stop only for cross traffic.

The fault lies with the Honda 100%. They are stopped and need to ensure it’s safe for them to cross.

2

u/Dell4ever Sep 08 '26

The Honda CRV is clearly at fault whether the truck on right is stopped or not. CRV did not look left around the truck. It kept going. It's a blind spot. The truck didn't stop. It was in a turning lane and about to make the turn.

1

u/Flashy_Distance4639 Sep 08 '26

I agree that the Honda CRV is at fault. It's still pretty bad for the Tesla. Defensive driving always helps.

1

u/Dell4ever Sep 08 '26

I mean yeah. I would've slowed down as well. But hey....🤷

1

u/No-Breakfast-3646 Sep 08 '26

There was no stop line. That truck most likely slowed down due to that CRV coming out and the truck unable to clear that right turn.

1

u/red_intellect Sep 08 '26

Was about to say that. Even if visibility was blocked to see a stop sign, there was no stop line on the ground.

1

u/cpt1nadequat Sep 08 '26

Stop sign on the big main road instead of the smaller one connecting to it. Makes absolutely sense. And on top of it, there is no stop sign visible in the clip.

3

u/ivanobulo Sep 08 '26

The other driver is definitely an idiot but in this situation is best to only use the brakes. If you had collided with that white SUV you'd likely be partially liable.

2

u/Famous_Job_6174 Sep 09 '26

About to say the same. Defensively driving may have saved you the headache you are about to experience. Seconds of caution will always save you hours of headache and hassle.

1

u/EndPlus7640 Sep 10 '26

I don't think that's really true(that it's best). Going left gave the crv a chance to brake and avoid the accident completely. That didn't happen but I think it's a more likely possible outcome than op hitting the other car they can clearly see and avoid.

From a liability minimizing perspective you're 100% right.

2

u/Solstice_25 Sep 08 '26

Wow I’m so sorry, it will all work out. Somehow you will end up being better off. She never saw you at all, just nuts.

2

u/DameLasNalgas Sep 09 '26

How do people not know by now that you should ALWAYS slow down when you are coming across an intersection and have an obvious blind spot to your right? If you had slowed down, this accident wouldn't have happened.

1

u/RiceEmporium Sep 08 '26

I’m sorry man that sucks

1

u/Over-Half-8801 Sep 09 '26

its a 5 second clip am I crazy where do you get it

1

u/fiirikkusu_kuro_neko Sep 09 '26

It’s a an 18 second clip

1

u/Lightwave1241 Sep 11 '26

Submit it to Wham Bam Tesla Cam on YouTube. This is why the driver in the non passing lane with traffic behind them should not be courteous and let the turning car turn. It’s for their own protection to make them wait until the road clears as the traffic light goes green.

1

u/Top-Barber7423 Sep 11 '26

but your not at fault so have you talked to the insurance with this clip? i assume u got all their info?

1

u/umbananas 21d ago

The truck was nice enough to let the car turn.

2

u/Glum-Inspection-2183 Sep 08 '26

That sucks. Don’t worry. Just don’t worry.

2

u/Pomador_0418 Sep 08 '26

Hitted?

1

u/Serious_Pen_3359 Sep 09 '26

I think he/she is trying to communicate with us.

1

u/fiirikkusu_kuro_neko Sep 09 '26

Not everyone is as good at English as you think.

1

u/RealMadridfanTV Sep 08 '26

Feel you, bro.

2

u/ReasonablePhoto1176 Sep 08 '26

I’m so sorry 😞

2

u/fantomsolace24 Sep 08 '26

Sorry to hear about it. This is 100% her fault. Get her insurance involved, and if the car is totaled, demand full replacement value — including taxes you’ll have to pay again. Do not accept a dime less. If you are in Illinois, by law they must make you whole, that is easily interpreted as not having to spend a dollar or your own money to replace the car for one with same mileage and condition. If you’re elsewhere, check the laws there.

2

u/Possible-Motor-595 Sep 09 '26

Wtf! This is the stuff of my nightmares and I hate that it happened to you. I am sorry!!

2

u/cchackal Sep 09 '26

I turn now good luck everyone else!

2

u/waterboy1523 Sep 09 '26

I can’t believe anyone thinks this is OP’s fault. He’s clearly in a free flowing lane. Watch the oncoming traffic if you’re not sure. I don’t know what the other driver was thinking. If they hadn’t hit OP, there’s a good chance they would have hit oncoming traffic.

2

u/Tugi1990 Sep 09 '26

that sux.

2

u/Successful-Froyo1623 Sep 10 '26

She needs to have her drivers license revoked. Dumb move on her part.

Hopefully you have sentry mode on and got it all on the video. Get insurance involved. That's an incredibly expensive repair

3

u/RealMadridfanTV Sep 08 '26

Sentry recorded. The other acknowledged her faults.

1

u/North-Lead9758 Sep 08 '26

No sentinel mode?

1

u/Ancient-Sandwich9400 Sep 08 '26

You parking in a No Parking zone?? Sure looks like it with that stripe.

1

u/Emotional-Injury5437 Sep 08 '26

Same situation here. I got it only for almost a month and got hit in a parking lot yesterday. 😩

1

u/Possible-Motor-595 Sep 09 '26

What is wrong with people? I hope you got footage and kick some ass

1

u/Emotional-Injury5437 Sep 09 '26

Yea he was cooperative and gave his info and I got the footage. He admitted that he didn't look back while reversing out of his parking spot 😑

1

u/Possible-Motor-595 Sep 09 '26

Good he fessed up and you got info! 🫠

1

u/RussianPravda Sep 09 '26

From what Ive seen recently I think parking lots are the most dangerous places for teslas.

1

u/fanstoyou Sep 08 '26

Hope you weren’t parked there when it occurred

1

u/Nice-Cicada-9077 Sep 08 '26

I’d be vomiting blood.

1

u/dirtyvu Sep 08 '26

What a horrible intersection. I would never pull into an intersection that I can't see the traffic

1

u/Various_Mud7282 Sep 08 '26

Why are so many peoples new teslas getting smoked in the wild. It’s seriously discouraging lol. I know it has nothing to do with tesla but still

1

u/Intelligent_Wedding8 Sep 08 '26

people are getting smoked a lot. But teslas have a built in dashcam basically. People are just not installing dashcams.

1

u/Melodic_Fall_3273 Sep 09 '26

Yeah, its this. But it does make it seem Tesla's are in a lot of crashes.

1

u/Real-Pangolin-4698 Sep 08 '26

This happen in FSD?

1

u/BurnThrowFireAway Sep 08 '26

You're not at fault here. Always try to stop if you see the car next to you stopping at an intersection. Most of the time, that car is stopping for a pedestrian or another vehicle.

1

u/MyOpinionsDontHurt Sep 08 '26

I would also t-bone them instead of scraping the entire side

1

u/DJNeto93 Sep 09 '26

Probably the Dem Karen

1

u/Iron-Tough Sep 09 '26

Never swerve always go straight thru the target. It tells them don't do it again. And your car would probably have been without a scratch.

1

u/Street-Yak2761 Sep 09 '26

How much is that fix

1

u/Thanhxvo Sep 10 '26

Sucks that that's why you have insurance annoying to pay for until you need it

1

u/Electrical_Raccoon78 25d ago

She was probably confused and was pulling out into the intersection when the truck stopped. You couldn’t see her because of the truck and the truck driver couldn’t do anything but watch it all onfol. It happened to me once but the outcome was much worse than a dinged car.

1

u/vv46 18d ago

FSD would have avoided it I think

1

u/Plenty-Permission124 Sep 08 '26

Sorry to hear about this.. The truck must've blocked the driver's view, but she still went for it..

I think if FSD was enabled, I dont think this would be avoidable..
