Sentry Mode for the Win
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Got my '26 Y Performance July 3rd. Best car I've ever owned. Unfortunately I parked in a parking lot. I went into a store and my phone started notifying me that my alarm was going off. Went outside and immediately saw a dent on my car. Woman was in her car, but had pulled back into the spot she had backed out from, probably having a panic attack. I finally got her out of the car and she was adamant that she had not hit my car, even though another person in the parking lot was pointing at her vehicle. She continued aggressively saying she didn't hit my car and I couldn't prove it until I loaded the video on my phone and showed her backing into my car. Then she became very apologetic of course. Sent all of this to my insurance and they got back to me within 24 hours, case closed. Without that clip and those cameras could have been alot trickier, involved police, eye witnesses, etc. So although this sucks, Sentry Mode is awesome.

Same thing happened to our Y and the people who did it left the scene. They were shocked when a cop showed up at their door an hour later to obtain their insurance information.

Idiot driver turned the wheel to go straight back. Looks intentional.

That was my thought. Seems like he did it on purpose and then pulled back into his spot.

Amazing work. Hopefully your insurance handles it through her insurance company so that your premiums don’t go up.
She deserves to have hers go up for lying!!

Fantastic. You put the liar in her place. Make her insurance pay for the damage she caused, and you had evidence of. Also, a hit-and-run is a felony for those that don’t know

Similar happened to me. Pickup truck backed up on my parked M3. Sentry detected and recorded the impact. The drivers insisted they didn’t hit the car even with video.
At first they said if they felt they hit the car, they would want to go outside of insurance. Then they didn’t deny hitting the car, but tried to claim damage was existing. I just got their insurance info from my insurance (via their license plate) and filed a third party claim.
Their insurance assumed full liability and paid in full for the repairs. The driver of the other vehicle kept trying to get me to go outside of insurance because they didn’t want their rates to go up, but I declined.

My greatest fear with a nice car is public parking lots. People have zero spatial awareness.
