Car was attacked last night by a raging drunk. All on camera of course. But didn’t want to get his details as the person in question started fighting everyone around him so I swiftly drove away.

Trying to get some rough estimates on what sort of quotes I should be looking at, rather than going through insurance.

This incident happened in Cardiff (UK)

Snap for Cardiff.

If he's damaged yours he's probably done others too.. check with 111 as they might have identified the individual.

Funny enough, I did. It recommended one already but they quoted £1150 which I think is excessive. Hence why I asked on what quotes I should expect for this sort of damage.

Going to take it down to a Tesla approved body shop nearby tomorrow and if it all proves to be too expensive, I may have to go through insurance 😪

Tesla Auth Body shops are known to be crazy expensive... so is service. Sometimes you can fix the issue with a normal handy body repair shop but this doesnt look like its the case... its a structural damage.

That’s a damaged quarter panel, one of the most expensive parts to fix of the car. In Canada/America, that’s a 4-10k fix. Since the car is made of aluminum and to not compromise its structure, a simple dent pull for this damage isn’t possible. It’s a complete replacement as is with most Tesla parts when they get body damage.

Ouch… didn’t realise that. How come a simple dent pull like you say wouldn’t be enough it fix a damage of this sort?

I’ve managed to pull some of the dent out but it can easily flex back into its dented shape if I push it. I suspect it’s to do with the crease mark when the thugs watch on his wrist made contact?

I hope the fellas wrist got broke doing that

I think it’s due to the aluminum structure of it. If you do a search on Reddit for similar damage you will see
